English Abstract

This is a part for attaching to a flowmeter, known as a 3 cylinder base, which
allows for delivery
of nitrous oxide/oxygen for conscious sedation in dental or medical
environments. In this
invention, the three cylinder holder design enables the operator the ability
to operate two cylinders
of medical gases (N2O and O2) at one time while having the third cylinder of
O2 as either a
backup cylinder to replace the first one or to be utilized as an emergency
back-up system.

Claims

Note: Claims are shown in the official language in which they were submitted.

Claim
1. This part allows no suspension of medical gas cylinders as the design of
the base allows for secure
hold of three cylinders to allow for less likeliness of tipping over and less
stress on the yolk
attachments when tank valves are attached. Other bases do not have three
cylinder holders.This
is the first design for three cylinder design compared to any conscious
sedation base.
2. The materials in the cart design are different which allows for a more
secure type of base to
provide support to the other sedation part. Meg welding, non-skid ballbearing
wheels,
physics in design for three ring application to provide secure hold of
cylinders, rust-
resistant pressure-coated paint application for better maintenance makes this
cart unique.
3. This part allows the purchaser a part that gives more choices to purchasing
other type
of manufactured parts, namely flowmeter heads. This cart will attach with
adapters
to a Porter Flowmeter, an Accutron Flowmeter (five models), Matrx Flowmeter
among
ethers. The comfort of having more choices wrath more the one piece of
equipment
to purchase allows the purchaser with a product they like the most and
understand
how to operate.
4. This cart allows the purchaser to have a conversion of his/her existing
parts from a
central N2O/O2 system in a dental office to a portable system. The existing
doctor's
parts in his/her office can be transferred over to attach to the cart (namely
the
flowmeter, Pressure hoses that deliver N2O and O2, N2O and O2 regulators) to
allow
a system to be made for the operation of administering mixed gases to provide
a conscious sedation for anesthetic purposes.

CA 02303493 2000-03-29
Universal Portable Conversion Cart
~ This cart is a base to hold three E size medical gas cylinders
~ All the parts of the cart are set up to hold cylinders of gas without
supension and
to keep a reserve tank for emergency and/ or ease of switch over of tanks.
~ The gases to be purchased by the doctor would be nitrous-oxide and oxygen.
The
cart would hold one nitrous-oxide tank and two oxygen tanks. The gases would
be purchased for conscious sedation to reduce anxiety and enhance painless
dentistry and/or medical situations that entail the need to reduce client's
pain
levels.
~ Adapters are utlized as connectors for the cart in attaching a flowmeter.
N.B
Flowmeter in understood as the eguipment to mix the medical gases together to
provide certain levels that will theraputically ehance pain relief while the
client
is still awake..
~ This cart is made of steel and all attachments are done by Meg Welding
process
to increase the strenth of the product to hold other pieces of eguipment such
as
the flowmeter and medical gas cylinders.
~ This cart becomes a complete system when the doctor provides the medical
gases
through his/her supplier and the flowmeter from their preferred manufacturer.
~ This cart operates as a two cylinder base with the third tank holder being a
backup supply of oxygen .
