OIL-FREE PaafPIFD WILD R1(:E CEREAL
Field of Invention
This invention relat~cs to cereals comprising oil-free pepped wild rice as the
main
ingredient to provide for nutriti~~us and healthy breakfast dishes.
Background of the Invention
Wild rice has hacn enjoyed by many in North America a~ part of their regular
diet. Even

other rice-like grains -
hy cooking in l~mth or walc3r until they become soft and chewy. 'The cooked
wild race are usually
mixed with other ingredients, :such as vegetables, tiruita or meat portions.
()uitc often, wild rice
are cookai and stirred to matte salad, casserole dish or soup.
Due to its inherent texture and the conventional ways of cooking, wild rice
has not
commonly boon adopted and used in cereals and are seldom consumed in
breakfast. This is
rcsrertahle wince wild rice, being water-grass seed which grow in cold weather
climates, in frect
contain high amount ofprotcin.
Wild rice are also fried in waking oil or prepared by other greasy meth«dy to
beeocne
"Poppfxl". 'traditionally, North American natives prepare t~i~d rwild rice
snack-like dill for
ceremonial occasions. The Ivied popped wild rice are sometimes usad for cereal
mixes.
Hawcver, the greasy nature resulting from oil cooking is not conducive with
the concept of a
healthy breakfast.
iJS Patent No. 4,87b,0~9 (issued Uct, 19$9 to MaciJrcgor et al.) discloae,5 a

means, C;tmsequently, it is more desirable to use cal-tree popped wild rice
preparad by non
greasy pnhping methods such a5 the hot air popping matted as hrealcfast
cereals.
Summary of><nvention
The present invention has been developed to fulfill the need by provide a
nutritious and
healthy breakfast cereal using coil-free popped wild rice as the main
ingredient.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a wllc~lcsome cereal
mixture
comprising oil-free popped wild rice and other fibre-rich food in~;redicnts.
Still another abject of the present invention is to provide stn oil-tree
popped wild rice
cereal having predetermined amounts of raisins, brown sugar, cru.,hed almonds
and vanilla
extract tc~ create a unique and plea~nt taste.
These and other objects: are met by the present irtvcntion which is directn~l
to a
compoviion of breakfast cereal using oil-free popped wild rice as thG main
inp~eCiiem.
According lc~ one aspect of the invention, it provides a wild rice cereal
premix con~prisir~
in combination (a) 5D°/a oil-free popped wild rice; (b) 3b% dark
seedless raisins; (c) 6.S%
sweetener; (d) T._5% dried fruit and (e) vanilla extract equals to X51610 ml
multiply by lHe total
weight of'said cereal mix.
Detailed Descrirrtion of the Preferred Embodiments
While the btcakfu3t cereal of the present invention Is Suitable It~r
consumption by the
gcnerul public, it is particularl)r suitable for the North Amurican-nativc
people. Ancordingly,

According to an individual's taste, desirable amount afmiik can be added to
any ot'thc
above cereal mixes prior to serving.
In addition to the foregoing examples which stipulate specific amounts u!'thc
various
cereal ingredients, it has lasso found that the specific atnt~unts Can be
adjct, tcd to suit the taste of
the individuals. 1'rcferably, the alltoullts should be within a 59~n by dry
