English Abstract

A theftproof system for an automobile includes an elongated slide
track mounted on a drive's seat of an automobile, a seat slidably mounted on
the slide track, a seat motor mounted on the slide track for driving the seat
to
move reciprocally on the slide track, a reduction gear set co-operating with
the
seat motor to move the seat, and a seat movement control device for operating
the seat motor to rotate and including a receiver, a central processing unit,
a
decoder, an actuator, and a motor rotation control circuit. The motor rotation
control circuit is electrically connected to the seat motor for rotating the
seat
motor, and the seat movement control device is provided with a power supply
by a battery and co-operates with an emitter. In such a manner, when the
receiver receives a signal supplied from the emitter, the motor rotation
control
circuit of the seat movement control device actuates the seat motor to rotate
positively so as to move the seat on the slide track to a front end of the
driver's
seat, thereby blocking and sealing a leg placing space of the drive's seat so
that
an extruder cannot step on a pedal of the driver's seat.

1 THEFTPROOF SYSTEM FOR AUTOMOBILE
2 BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
3 FIELD OF THE INVENTION
4 The present invention relates to a theftproof system, and more
particularly to a theftproof system for an automobile.
6 DESCRIPTION OF THE RELATED ART
A conventional theftproof device for a car in accordance with the
8 prior art comprises a lock mounted on the steering wheel or the gear shift
stick
of the car so that the steering wheel or the gear shift stick is fixed and
cannot be
1 o moved, thereby achieving a theftproof function.
11 A conventional theftproof device for the driver's seat of a car in
12 accordance with the prior art comprises a movable seat which can be moved
to
13 the front end of the driver's seat for blocking the leg placing space of
the
14 driver's seat so that an extruder cannot step on the clutch pedal, the
brake pedal
or the accelerator pedal of the driver's seat. A lock can be used to secure
the
16 seat when the seat is moved to its front end, thereby ei~iciently achieving
a
17 theftproof function. However, the user has to push the seat forward and
then
1 s lock the seat by the lock manually, thereby causing inconvenience to the
user,
19 and thereby wasting energy. In addition, the lock is exposed outward from
the
2o seat so that the lock is easily broken by the thief, thereby greatly
decreasing the
21 theftproof effect.
22 SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
23 The present invention has arisen to mitigate and/or obviate the
24 disadvantage of the conventional theftproof device for a car.
In accordance with one aspect of the present invention, there is
26 provided a theftproof system for an automobile comprising: an elongated
slide
2'7 track mounted on a drive's seat of an automobile; a seat slidably mounted
on
28 the slide track; a seat motor mounted on the slide track for driving the
seat to
29 move reciprocally on the slide track; a reduction gear set mounted on the
slide
3o track and co-operating with the seat motor to move the seat; and a seat

1 movement control device mounted in the automobile for operating the seat
2 motor to rotate and including a receiver, a central processing unit, a
decoder, an
3 actuator, and a motor rotation control circuit. The seat movement control
device is preferably provided with a power supply by a battery and is adapted
to co-operate with an emitter. The motor rotation control circuit of the seat
6 movement control device can be electrically connected to the seat motor for
'7 rotating the seat motor.
s By such an arrangement, when the receiver receives the signal
9 supplied from the emitter remotely, the motor rotation control circuit of
the
1o seat movement control device is adapted to actuate the seat motor to rotate
1 I positively so as to move the seat on the slide track to a front end of the
driver's
12 seat, thereby blocking and sealing a leg placing space of the drive's seat
so that
13 an extruder cannot step on a pedal of the driver's seat.
14 A steering wheel is pivotally mounted in the automobile, and a
steering wheel motor and a reduction gear set are mounted in the automobile
16 for controlling the steering wheel to pivot relative to the seat
reciprocally.
17 Preferably, the steering wheel motor is electrically connected to the motor
18 rotation control circuit so that when the seat is moved forward, the
steering
19 wheel .is synchronously pivoted downward, thereby further blocking and
2o sealing the leg placing space of the drive's seat.
21 Further benefits and advantages of the present invention will become
22 apparent after a careful reading of the detailed description with
appropriate
23 reference to the accompanying drawings.

8 DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
9 Referring to the drawings and initially to Figs. 1-4, a theftproof
1 o system for an automobile in accordance with the present invention
comprises
11 an elongated slide track 10 mounted on a drive's seat 18 of an automobile,
a
12 seat 11 slidably mounted on the slide track 10, a seat motor 12 mounted on
the
13 slide track 10 for driving the seat 11 to move reciprocally on the slide
track 10,
14 a reduction gear set 120 mounted on the slide track 10 and co-operating
with
the seat motor 12 to move the seat 11, and a seat movement control device 20
16 mounted in the automobile under the seat 11 for operating the seat motor 12
to
17 rotate.
1$ The seat movement control device 20 includes a receiver 21; a
19 central processing unit {C.P U.) 22, a decoder 23, an actuator 24, and a
motor
2o rotation control circuit 25, wherein the motor rotation control circuit 25
is
21 electrically connected to the seat motor 12 for rotating the seat motor 12.
22 The seat movement control device 20 is provided with a power
23 supply by a battery 26, and the receiver 21 of the seat movement control
device
24 20 is adapted to co-operate with an emitter 27.
In operation, referring to Figs. 1-6, when the driver gets off the car,
26 he can press the emitter 27 so as to remotely emit a signal to the receiver
21.
27 When the receiver 21 receives the signal supplied from the emitter 27
remotely,
2s the motor rotation control circuit 25 of the seat movement control device
20 is
29 adapted to actuate the seat motor 12 to rotate positively so as to move the
seat
3o 11 on the slide track 10 from the position as shown in Figs. l and 5 to the
3

CA 02312627 2000-06-28
1 position as shown in Figs. 2 and 6 so that the seat 11 is displaced to the
front
2 end of the driver's seat 18, thereby completely blocking and sealing the leg
3 placing space 15 of the drive's seat 18 so that an extruder cannot step on
the
pedal 16 of the driver's seat 18, thereby achieving a theftproof function. The
pedal 16 may be a clutch pedal, a brake pedal or an accelerator pedal.
6 On the other hand, a steering wheel 13 is pivotally mounted in the
7 automobile. A steering wheel motor 14 co-operating with a reduction gear set
8 140 is mounted in the automobile for controlling the steering wheel 13 to
pivot
9 relative to the seat 11 reciprocally. The steering wheel motor 14 is
electrically
to connected to the motor rotation control circuit 25 so that when the seat 11
is
11 moved forward, the steering wheel motor 14 is rotated positively by the
motor
12 rotation control circuit 25 to pivot the steering wheel 13 so that the
steering
13 wheel 13 can be synchronously pivoted downward when the seat 11 is moved
14 forward, thereby further blocking and sealing the leg placing space 15 of
the
drive's seat 18.
16 As shown in Figs. 1 and 5, for a common use, the leg placing space
17 1 S of the drive's seat 18 is large enough to accommodate the drive's legs
for
1 s controlling the pedal 16 such as a clutch pedal, a brake pedal or an
accelerator
19 pedal.
2o As shown in Figs. 2 and 6, when the driver gets off the car, he can
21 press the emitter 27 to remotely emit a cutoff signal to the receiver 21.
When
22 the receiver 21 mounted on the car receives the signal from the emitter 27,
the
23 signal is processed by the C.P.U. 22 and the decoder 23 so as to drive the
24 actuator 24 which controls the motor rotation control circuit 25 which then
actuates the seat motor 12 and the steering wheel motor 14 to rotate
positively
26 so that the seat 11 can be moved forward on the slide track 10, and the
steering
2~ wheel 13 can be synchronously pivoted downward when the seat 11 is moved
2s forward, thereby completely blocking and sealing the leg placing space 15
of
29 the drive's seat 18. The seat motor 12 and the steering wheel motor 14 then
3o stop rotating when the leg placing space 15 of the driver's seat 18 is
entirely

CA 02312627 2000-06-28
1 blocked. At the same time, the seat motor 12 is locked by the reduction gear
set
2 120, and the steering wheel motor 14 is locked by the reduction gear set 140
so
3 that the extruder cannot easily push the seat 11 and the steering wheel 13
to
their original positions, thereby achieving a theftproof function.
Accordingly, the theftproof system in accordance with the present
invention has the following advantages.
'7 The driver only needs to press the button of the emitter so as to move
s the seat or to pivot the steering wheel for blocking the leg placing space
of the
9 driver's seat, thereby facilitating the operation of the theftproof system.
to In addition, the driver only needs to press the button of the emitter so
11 as to control the opening and closing action without having to push the
seat
12 manually as is disclosed in the conventional device, thereby saving the
user's
13 energy.
14 Further, the driver only needs to press the button of the emitter so as
to control the opening and closing action without having to mount a lock as is
16 disclosed in the conventional device, thereby facilitating the operation of
the
17 theftproof system.
1 s Further, the seat motor and the seat movement control device hidden
19 under the seat can provide a locking effect so that they are not easily
found or
2o broken by the extruder, thereby enhancing the theftproof function.
21 Further, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the slide track is secured to the
22 chassis of the car by bolts so that when the seat is moved forward, the
bolts are
23 covered by the seat so that the seat cannot be dismantled at all, thereby
further
24 enhancing the theftproof function.
2s It should be clear to those skilled in the art that further embodiments
26 may be made without departing from the scope of the present invention.
