English Abstract

The invention is designed to protect an Ostomate's stoma from
coming in contact with an Ostomy waste pouch that is normally
worn by a person who has a colostomy and must use ostomy
appliances and waste pouches.
The Stoma Protector shield is comprised of a semi circular tube
with a circular flange on the bottom of the tube. The tube rises
vertically above the flange to a designated height from the base of
the structure. 35% of the verticle tube is cut away leaving an opening
on the surface of the tube. The tubular structure is open at both ends.
The height of the tubular section is sized to the average size of an
Ostimate's stoma. The material used in the manufacture of the protector
shield can be plastic, metal, or what ever material is deemed best.
The shield is placed between the ostomy appliance wafer inside the
wafer's flexible collar next to the surface of the appliance. Then the
Ostomy waste collecting pouch is placed on the appliance connecting
the pouch to the appliance in the normal fashion. The protector shield
is now held in place by the collar of the ostomy pouch, thus preventing
the protector shield from becoming loose and falling into the pouch.
