English Abstract

A golf putter incorporating dual shafts designed to aid the golfer in
positioning the golf
ball in reference to the centre of the face of the putter and properly
positioning the
golfer's head and eyes directly over the putter. Dual shafts assist the golfer
in aligning
the putter with the intended path that the golf ball will take after being
struck by the
putter and in achieving and maintaining a pendulum swing, greatly increasing
the
accuracy of the put.

Putter
Description
Background Information to the Inrrention
Since the inception of the game of golf, golfers have known the importance of
achieving
a pendulum stroke with the putter. At this point I shall define the word
pendulum, " A rigid
body capable of swinging on a horizontal axis as a result of the influence of
gravity. Any
solid object suspended suitably is a pendulum." Golf putters with a shaft that
is diagonal
to the putter head cannot take advantage of the laws of gravity in performing
a
pendulum stroke. Very likely the laws of gravity would have an adverse effect.
My
application pertains only to golf putters with a perpendicular shaft & are
capable of
swinging on a horizontal axis as a result of the influence of gravity. There
are golf
putters on the market that are equipped with perpendicular shafts. These shafts
are
mounted in the centre of the putter' head & are designed to swing in a
pendulum
rrrotion. These designs are proper as they conform to the requirements of a
pendulum
swing. The question here is can the golfer through the manipulation of hands
arms &
slhoulders guide the putter head down the desired line in a pendulum swing
with a putter
that is designed with a perpendicular shaft positioned in the centre of the
putter
head..Golfers line up the putter blade by placing the blade at right angles to
the intended
direction of roll of the ball. The intended roll of the ball is established by
visualizing an
imaginary line from the ball to the hole, or an imaginary line from the ball
to a spot on the
line of intended roILThe putter blade is then set at right angles to this
reference
Iine. When the golfer is ready to proceed with aligning the putter blade at a
right angle to
the intended line of the putt he positions himself square to the golf
ball.With a putter that
has a perpendicular shaft placed in the centre of the putter head he must
place the
putter head behind the ball & the ball alignecl with the centre of the putter
head. In order
for the golfer to perform a pendulum stroke he must position his head directly
over the
putter head. The golfer's hands placed at the top of the golf shaft which is
perpendicular
to the putter head are positioned midway in the perpendicular alignment from
the head
of the putter to the head of the golfer. After aim is established, a golfers
putting ability is
largely dependent on retaining this putter alignment to and during impact with
the ball.ln
order to retain this alignment the golfer must have a clear and unobstructed
view of the
axis from the golfers head to the head of the putter'.

Putter
Description
8~ackground Information to the Invention Continued
Under the current design of the pendulum putter the galfer is denied a clear
and
unobstructed view of the axis from the golfers head to the putter head as the
hands of
the golfer are positioned at the top of the shaft block off 90% of the golfers
view of the
putter head. The golfer cannot be sure the head of the putter is aligned at a
right angle
to the intended line of the putt. Also the golfE~r cannot be sure the putter
is tracking in a
pendulum stroke to and during impact with the ball. The alignment line from
the golfers
head to the head of the putter is important as it designates the position of
the centre of
gravity of the pendulum swing when contact is made with the ball. Should the
golfer
move his head in any direction to improve the line of sight to the putter head
the centre
of gravity of the pendulum stroke also moves in whatever direction the golfer
moved his
head causing an undesirable effect to the pendulum stroke. For example should
the
golfer move his head forward of the ball the centre of gravity moves
accordingly causing
the putter head to strike the ball in a downward angle causing back spin to
the ball
rather than a forward roll which is the desired result of golfers. Should the
golfer move
his head further backward from the original placing of the putter head the
centre of
gravity moves accordingly causing the putter head to strike the ball in an
upward angle
c~~using the ball to bounce and lose momentum and come up short of the target.
Under
the current design of the pendulunv :aroking sputters there are visual and
mechanical
errors as described. The errors as described prevent the golfer from executing
an
a~~curate perpendicular pendulum stroke with the putter.

Descriptian
Detailed Description of the Invention
In order to correct the visual and mechanical errors as described in the
background
information, corrections were made as follows. Shaft (a) positioned in the
centre of the
putter head of the current design caf the pendulum stroking putter is
repositioned 30 mm
inside the heel of the putter head or from (d) to (c) as designated in the
drawings. Shaft
(a) positioned 25mm off centre towards the heel of the putter also positions
the golfers
hands 25mm off centre towards the heel of the putter as the golfers hands grip
the top
of shaft (a) which remains in a perpendicular angle from the putter head.
Shaft (b) is
positioned in the centre of the putter head 5Eimm from the toe of the putter
head, also
55mm inside the heel of the putter head or at position (d). Refer to drawing.
V'dhen the golfer prepares himself to perform the putt he stands square to the
ball. His
head is positioned directly over the putter head. The golfer has a clear
unobstructed
perpendicular line of sight to the puti:er head The clear line of sight now
enables the
golfer to set the blade at a right angle to the intended line of the putt. The
golfer also has
a clear unobstructed perpendicular line of sight to shaft (b). To enhance the
line of sight
and to provide the golfer a point of concentration a white bead has been
attached to the
tap of shaft (b). Shaft (a) provides the golfer the means to swing the putter
in a
pendulum swing as shaft (a) is positioned at (c) in a perpendicular alignment
to the
golfers hands at the top of shaft (a). Shaft (b) positioned in the centre of
the putter head
ire a perpendicular line is parallel to shaft (a) Refer to drawing sheet 1 fig
b. The line and
direction of the pendulum stroke provided by shaft (a) is determined by the
perpendicular line of vision from the head of the golfer to shaft (b)
positioned at the
asntre of the putter head and is parallel to shaft (a) and they move in
unison. To further
enhance and clarify the perpendicular line of vision provided by this
invention I draw
your attention to sheet 5 fig.5 of the drawings. Figure (0} designates the eye
of the
golfer, figure (m) designates the perpendicular line of sight to figure (i) to
figure (b) to
figure (p) to figure (I) to figure (n).l~~his perpendicular line of sight "(m)
- from figure (o) to
figure (n)", is clear and unobstructed in any vvay. This perpendicular line of
sight must be
available to the golfer in order to achieve a pendulum swing with the putter.
