TITLE OF THE INVENTION
DISPOSABLE MANUAL WASTE COLLECTION
CONTAINMENT
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to waste collection. More
specifically, the present invention is concerned with a disposable manual
waste collection containment suitable for picking up, for example, animal
excrements.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
In the appended drawings:

of a disposable manual waste collection containment;
Figure 2 is a top plan view of the containment from Figure 1;

DESCRIPTION~OF THE ILLUSTRATIVE EMSOD1MENT
Turning now to Figures 1-2 of the appended drawings, a
disposable manual waste collection containment 10 according to an
illustrative embodiment of the present invention is illustrated.
The containment 10 is in the form of a glove preferably made
of a lightweight inexpensive material. The material is preferably chosen so
as to be untearable and air and moisture tight. Suitable materials include
polymerized materials such as polyethylene, polypropylene, and polyvinyl
chloride.
Since the glove 10 is disposable, it can be alternatively made
from an inexpensive and/or biodegradable material such as cotton paper
or cotton.
Even though it may be advantageous in some applications to
use a translucent material for the glove 10, so as to allow inspection of
waste materials carried by the glove 10 as will be explained hereinbelow,
an opaque material can also be used.
The glove 10 includes integral hand and sleeve portions 11-
12 provided with closure means adjacent the opening 14 of the glove 10.
The closure means is in the form of a peripheral resealable zipper 16
secured to the outer surface 17 of the sleeve portion 12 so as to be
operable following the inversion of the glove 10 as will be explained

hereinbelow. An example of zipper 16 is commercialized under the
"ziplock" trademark.
Alternatively, the closure means 16 may be in the form of a
peripheral reusable or non reusable adhesive strip.
Of course, the closure means may take other forms allowing
to seal the opening 14 of the glove 10.
The glove 10 is also advantageously provided with optional .
padding means 20 on the palm portion 22. As can be better seen in Figure
3, the padding means 20 are in the form of a layer of a polymeric material
that includes air bubbles 24. An example of such material is
commercialized under the Bubble WrapT"" trademarks. The layer is
advantageously secured onto the outer surface of the glove 10, but can
also be secured onto the inner surface 17. Alternatively, the air bubbles 24
can be incorporated directly in the glove material.
The padding means 20 allow to isolate the hand 26 of a user
from the fierce sensation of the hand closing onto excrement or onto other
waste materials. The padding means 20 also allow to isolate the hand 26
of the user from feeling the difference of temperature caused by the waste
material and that contributes to the adverse sensation.
Optionally, padding means may be provided on other
portions of the glove 10.

The padding means 20 may also take the form of an
additional layer of material of sufficient thickness to allow isolating the
hand 26 of a user from adverse sensation.
Also, even though the embodiment illustrated in Figures 1-2
is illustrated as a right hand glove, the padding means may be positioned
on the other side of the opening 14 so as to be suitable for a left hand.
Alternatively, padding means may be provided on both sides
of the opening so as that the glove 10 be adapted for both right and left-
handed users.
In operation, a user first inserts a hand 26 into the glove 10
so that the closure means are located outside the sleeve portion 12.
The user can then pick up excrements or any waste material
(not shown), the padding, when provided, isolating the hand 26 from fierce
sensation that may be caused by the waste material.
The user; still closing the hand 26 onto the waste material
then uses its other hand (not shown) to remove the glove 10 while
reversing it upside down.
Once the glove 10 is removed, the waste material is
enclosed in it and the glove 10 then acts as a bag. The user then uses the
closure means 16, which are at this point located on the inside surface 18
of the glove 10, to seal the opening and prevent leakage of odors or of

waste material.
Even though, the containment 10 has been illustrated as a
glove, it can take other hand covering form such as a mitt or a less defined
5 hand covering shape.
Optionally, a disposable manual waste collection
containment according to the present invention may be provided with
means for securing the containment to the wrist of the user, his clothes, to
an animal leash or the like.
Such securing means may be in the form, for example, of a
loop integrally secured to the containment to be tied to the wrist or the
like.
The securing means may also be used as a handle helping
removing the glove.
Although the present invention has been described
hereinabove by way of preferred embodiments thereof, it can be modified
without departing from the spirit and nature of the subject invention, as
defined in the appended claims.
