INTEGRALLY FORMED PLASTIC CLIPBOARD
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
1. Field of the Invention
This invention relates to an integrally formed
plastic clipboard, particularly to one able to simplify a
producing process, lower producing, packing and
transporting cost, and having excellent clamping effect.
2. Description of the Prior Art
A conventional clipboard 14, as shown in Figs. 1
and 2, is composed of a plastic board 11 and a clamp
member. 12. The clamp member 12 consists of a base plate
121, a twist spring 122 and a clamping plate 123. The
twist spring 122 is positioned between the base plate 121
and the clamping plate 123 so as to enable the clamping
plate 123 to produce a clamping force. Besides, the base
plate 121 has two through holes 1211 respectively bored
at two preset locations matching with two through holes
111 of the plastic board 11 and riveted together by rivets
l3.Thus, when the clamping plate 123 of the clamp
member 12 is pressed downward, there forms a clamping
openin5 between the clamping plate 123 and the plastic
board lI for paper to be placed and clamped therein,
with the plastic board 11 serving as a bottom pad for
facilitating writing or drawing on the paper clamped
thereon.
However, the conventional clipboard 12 has the
1

following drawbacks.
1. The plastic board 11 and the clamp member 12
have to be made separately, and the clamp member is
composed of the base plate 121, the twist spring 122 and
j the clamping plate 123. Besides, the base plate 121 and
the plastic board 11 are respectively bored with two
through holes 1211, 111 at preset positions matching
with each other for the convenience of combining the
base plate 121 with the plastic board 11 together by
means of rivets 13, thus complicating producing and
assembling processes, increasing producing and
assembling cost and not advantageous for economic gain.
2. The clamp member 12 of the clipboard 10 is
high, so it needs to take a large space to be packed in a
carton, increasing packing and transporting cost.
3. The clamp member 12 of the clipboard 10
usually requires certain metallic members which are
mostly formed with sharp edges and turning angles,
liable to give rise to an accident of being cut and wound
2p due to carelessness.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The objective of the invention is to offer an
integrally formed plastic clipboard with a number of
clamping members, able to simplify a producing process
and lower producing cost, and also reduce packing and
transporting cost because the clamping member is low.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED
EMBODIMENT
A first preferred embodiment of an integrally
formed plastic clipboard in the present invention, as
shown in Figs. 3 and 4, includes a plastic board 21, two
clamping members 22 and a hanb member 23 formed
together.
The plastic board 21 is shaped a rectangle.
The two clamping members 22 are respectively
formed at two preset positions near the top edge of the
plastic board 21, and each clamping member 22 has a
I S plate 222 formed on a U-shaped groove 221 cut in the
plastic board 21. The connecting side 2221 of the plate
222 is connected with the plastic board 21 and has a
proper fle~cibility, able to be pushed upward to form a
clamping opening 2~ for one or more sheets of paper to
be inserted therein and, after releasing the plate 222,
clamped in position between the plate 222 and the plastic
board 2I.
The hang member 23 is an ear 231 protruding
outward from the top central edge of the plastic board 21
2~ and bored with a hang hole 232 in the center for the
plastic clipboard 20 to be hung conveniently on a wall or
the like.

CA 02426834 2003-04-25
The plate 222 of the clamping member 22 has its
free end 2222 formed in a slightly bent-up condition for
facilitating paper to be quickly inserted and positioned
therein and also has its bottom side positioned a little
lower than the upper surface of the plastic sheet 21 in
order to increase a clamping force against paper.
A second preferred embodiment of the integrally
formed plastic clipboard in the present invention, as
shown in Fig. 5, has a clamping member 22 formed near
the top center of the plastic board 21. The clamping
member 22 has a heart-shaped plate 222 formed on a
heart-shaped groove 22I cut in the plastic board 21, and
the connecting end 2221 of the heart-shaped plate 222 is
connected with the plastic board 21 and has a proper
lj flexibility so as to produce a clamping force.
A third preferred embodiment of the integrally
formed plastic clipboard in the present invention, as
shown in Fig. 6, has the same structure as the first
embodiment except a clamping member 22 formed near
the top center of the plastic board 21. The clamping
member 22 has a plate 222 formed on a rectangular
groove 221 cut in the plastic board 21, and the plate 222
is arc-shaped with its opposite sides formed higher than
its central portion, letting the free end 2222 of the plate
2~ 222 slightly bent-up to a proper height for facilitating
paper to be inserted in between the plate 222 and the
plastic board 21, and. by means of the flexibility of the
s

CA 02426834 2003-04-25
connecting end 2221, paper is clamped in position by the
comparatively low central surface of the plate 222.
A fourth preferred embodiment of the integrally
formed plastic clipboard in the present invention, as
j sho'vn in Fig. 7, has the same structure as the first
embodiment except a clamping member 22 formed near
the top center of the plastic board 21. The clamping
member 22 has a plate 222 formed on a rectanguI~~ar
groove 22I cut in the plastic board 21, and the free end
2222 of the plate 222 is formed with an elongate
arc-shaped flange 2223 so as to produce linear clamping
between the bottom edge of the flange 2223 of the plate
222 and the clamped paper.
A fifth preferred embodiment of the integrally
formed plastic clipboard in the present invention, as
shown in Fig. 8, has the same structure as the first
embodiment except two clamping members 22
respectively formed at a preset location on the left and
the right upper sida of the plastic sheet 21 and
respectively having a lateral plate 222 surrounded by a
lateral U-shaped cut groove 221 for clamping paper
laterally.
In addition, the plastic sheet 21 may be formed
integral with a pen clamp 24 at a proper position on the
2S plastic board 21, as shown in Fig. 9. The pen clamp 24
consists of two clamping members 241 protruding upward
from the surface of the plastic sheet 21 to face each
6

CA 02426834 2003-04-25
other. The two clamping members 241 have their
corresponding sides respectively formed with an
arc-shaped clamping surface 2411, and the plastic sheet
21 between the two clamping members 241 is bored with
a through slot 242 of a preset length so as to make the
lower connecting ends of the two clamping members 241
flexible. Thus, when a pen is placed in the space between
the two clamping members 241 anal pushes against them,
the two clamping members 241 will be actuated by the
flexibility of their connecting ends to move inward and
firmly clamp the pen in position, and the clamping force
of the two clamping members 241 can easily be released

to remove the pen. Further, the n clamp 24 can also
pe be

formed on the topside of either plate 222 of the two

clamping members 22.
As can be understood by the above description,
this invention has the following advantages.
1. The plastic clipboard is made integral of plastic
and requires no other components, easy to be produced,
able to economize producing and assembling cost, and
advantageous for economic gain.
2. The clamping member of the plastic clipboard
has a height nearly equivalent to that of l:he upper side
of the plastic board and is much Iower than the clamping
member of the conventional clipboard, taking less space
in packing, and lowering transporting cost.
3. The whole plastic clipboard is made integral of
7

CA 02426834 2003-04-25
plastic so it is m~re flexible than the one made of
metallic components, comfortable in touching and safe
m use.
4. ~'he connecting end of each clamping member of
the plastic clipboard is properly flexible, so it is able to
form a required clamping fore, with this clamping force
together with the clamping surface of the plate of the
clamping member enabling paper to be clamped firmly.
While the preferred embodiments of the invention
have been described above, it will be recognized and
understood that various modifications may be made
therein and the appended claims are intended to cover all
such modifications that may fall within the spirit and
scope of the invention.
