English Abstract

In a process for generating electricity from solar power, a boiler is
positioned at the focus of a
solar collector, fed with liquid and generating vapour. This vapour is then
passed through a
turbine in a Rankine cycle to provide mechanical power.

~isclos~are
This invention relates to the process of extracting ~necl~anical povuer from a
solar collector.
It is common practice to generate heat through the use of collector panels to
heat water. These
panels are not e~cient, as there is no provision to magnify the solar power
striking them, and are
therefore incapable of collecting srxfficient heat to boil water. In cold
climates, the l2eat is
radiated almost as Quickly as it is gathered, rendering them nearly useless.
I have found that these disadvantages can be overcome through the use of a
paraboloid reflector,
concentrating the solar energy striking the bopiler, raising the temperature
of the contained water
for other liquid) past the bailing point, where it becomes steam, and expands.
This expanding
gas can be used to drive a turbine. The turbine converts the energy of the
expanding gas into
mechanical work.

Description
tn a drawing which illustrates the embodiment of the invention, a parabolic or
paraboloid solar
reflector (t), mounted on a rotating base (2.j to follow the path of the sun,
has at its' foci a
boiler (3), fed with liquid (~), wh.lch the boner cocwerts to steam (~).
This steaan is then introduced (6) to a turbine (7) through which it expands;
and from r~hich
enertry is extracted in the form of mechanical power. The exhaust (8) is
sahirated steam, from
which farther erierg~r rt~a~ he extracted in the forrrt of heat, for home
heating or ark outer
purpose.
