English Abstract

A mosaic panel consists of mosaic decorative materials (l), a base slab (3)
and an adhesive agent (2). The mosaic ecorative materials (1) are arranged
according to a definite pattern at the upper layer of the mosaic panel. The
adhesive agent (2) is filled between the mosaic decorative materials (l) and
the base slab (3) situated underneath the mosaic decorative materials (l), and
is filled between these mosaic decorative materials (l). According to the
invention, the base slab (3) is a metal plate, and a metal frame (5) is fixed
under said metal plate as a supporting frame. The mosaic panel has a high
strength by using the base slab (3) of metal material, and just because of the
usage of the metal plate with high strength, it has a thinner thickness under
the same strength request, and so that its weight is also very light.

CA 02525183 2005-11-08
A Mosaic Panel
Field of the Invention
The present invention generally relates to a building board material and
specifically
to a mosaic panel.
Background of the Invention
The mosaic materials are widely used in the building, furniture and indoor and
outdoor facilities. In order to improve the efficiency of construction, more
and more
semi-finished mosaic panels are used. At present, the construction of mosaic
panels
available at market is shown in Fig. 1 and Fig. 2. These kinds of mosaic
panels are
composed of the mosaic decorative materials, base slabs and adhesive agent.
The
mosaic decorative materials are arranged according to a definite pattern. The
mosaic
decorative materials can be marble, glass, ceramic tiles, board materials and
metal,
etc. The density board, mosaic decorative materials are arranged at the upper
layer of
the panel. The density board is situated underneath the mosaic decorative
materials.
The density board is honeycombed. Between the mosaic decorative materials and
density board as well as honeycombs are filled the adhesive agent. To ensure
the
sufficient strength of mosaic panel, the density board is generally thick.
Now, it sees
that the more and more mosaic panels are used on the outdoor facilities. But
since the
outdoor facilities are apt to be damaged, the mosaic panel has to be of high
strength.
As the mosaic panel has the following disadvantages: l.the whole piece of
mosaic
panel is relatively thick, 2. the said mosaic panel is insufficient in
strength. The
existing mosaic panels can not well satisfy the demands of high strength.
Disclosure of the Invention
The subject of the present invention is to provide a kind of light mosaic
panel
featuring high strength.
The mosaic panel of the present invention consists of mosaic decorative
materials, a
base slab and an adhesive agent. The mosaic decorative materials are arranged
according to a definite pattern at the upper layer of the mosaic panel. The
base slab is
situated underneath the mosaic decorative materials. And adhesive agent is
filled
between the mosaic decorative materials and base slab as well as between these
mosaic decorative materials, wherein, the base slab is a metal plate and a
metal frame
is fixed under the said metal plate as a supporting frame.
To improve adhesion strength, between the mosaic decorative materials and the
base
slab is laid flatly a layer of fiber net, with the adhesive agent filled
inside the fiber net.
The mosaic panel of the present invention has a high strength by using the
base slab
of the metal plate with high strength. And just because of the usage of the
metal plate

CA 02525183 2005-11-08
with high strength, the mosaic panel is comparatively thin and features the
light
weight.
The structural features and advantages of the present invention will be
described in
detail by way of examples in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.
Brief Description of the Accompanying Drawings
Fig. 1 is the cross-sectional and diagrammatic view of the existing mosaic
panel;
Fig. 2 is the A-A cross-sectional view of Fig. 1;
Fig. 3 is the cross-sectional and diagrammatic view of the mosaic panel of the
present
invention;

Detailed Description of the Preferred Embodiment
As shown in Fig. 3 for the mosaic panel, the mosaic decorative materials 1
used in
this example are the marble pieces, the base slab 3 is an iron plate, the
adhesive agent
2 is vinylester resin. The marble pieces 1 are arranged according to a
definite pattern
at the upper layer of the mosaic panel. The metal plate 3 is situated
underneath the
marble pieces 1. A layer of fiber net 4 is laid between the marble pieces land
metal
plate 3. A mixture of vinylester resin, stone stock and stone powder is filled
between
the marble pieces 1 and metal plate 3, and between these marble pieces 1. A
metal
frame 5 is fixed under said metal plate as a supporting frame and threaded
holes 51
are made available under the metal frame 5. On the bottom plane 31 of the
metal
panel and the undersurface of the metal frame 5 are coated the vinylester
resin similar
to the adhesive agent 2. And further, a layer of glass fibre reinforced
plastic and
2

mixtures are applied for sealing purpose.
The technologies for production of the mosaic panel in said working example
are as
follows:
1. Fix the fastening paster on the platform;
2. Place the pattern moulds as required;
3. Arrange the required mosaic decorative materials 2, such as marble pieces,
board
material, brick, glass, and metal, etc., on the paster in the moulds according
the
pattern and fix them well. Stick the fiber net 4;
4. Deal with the metal supporting frame
- Firstly, fix the iron plate onto the iron pipe flatly;
- Clean the metal plate and pipe after they are ground thoroughly
- Apply the special AROWAY7120PRINER (vinylester resin) adhesive agent
which features reinforcement of corrosion resistance and inter-structural
density;
5. Fill the mixture (resin + stone stock + stone powder) into the material
model in
the mould which has been formed after the above step 3. And immediately,
place the metal supporting frame which has been made according to the above
step 4 on the required place and apply heavy pressure on it so that the
complete
and tight joining can be achieved.
6. On the back of the finished metal supporting frame, apply a coat of special
AROWAY7120PRINER (vinylester resin) adhesive agent featuring reinforcement
of corrosion resistance and inter-structural density. Afterwards, apply a
layer of
glass fibre reinforced plastic and mixtures so that the metal supporting frame
comprising iron plate and iron pipe is completely sealed inside the mixtures,
with
a tight joining achieved.
7. For the semi-finished products that have undergone the above procedures,
grind
and water finish them to get rid of the excessive stone stock or powder to
obtain
the required pattern. Then wax and glaze them to achieve the actual results of
usage. Finally, pack the products.
Industrial Application
The mosaic panel of the present invention has a high strength by using the
strong
metal plate as the base slab. And just because of the use of metal plate with
high
strength, the mosaic panel can be thinner under the same requirements for the
strength,
with the features of light weight. The mosaic panel of the present invention
is suitable
for applications of buildings, furniture and outdoor and indoor facilities.
