The UASC is a secure easy-to-use, self-contained permanent fixture for shower
stalls and
above the bathtub wall. The unit is lightweight, durable, hygienic and safe
for all persons
to use; designed especially for those requiring extra security when bathing or
taking a
shower and experience difficulty standing up independently or have limited
mobility.

Universal Adjustable Shower Chair (UASC)
The UASC is a secure easy-to-use, self-contained permanent fixture for shower
stalls and
above the bathtub wall. The unit is lightweight, durable, hygienic and safe
for all persons
to use; designed especially for those requiring extra security when bathing or
taking a
shower and experience difficulty standing up independently or have limited
mobility.

Specifications
1. This invention relates to manually operable chair fixed to the wall to aid
those in
need of a secure and stale adjustable platform when bathing and/or showering.

2. There are no known devises of this nature.

3. The advantages of the Universal Adjustable Shower Chair, can reduce bath
area
accidents caused by the slipping and instability and enables those individuals
who
are physically challenged to the freedom to shower/bathe (and us a commode if
needed during the bathing process) independently in a secure environment.

Description of the Universal Adjustable Shower Chair (UASC)

To use, the unit is lowered and extended into position by the user to grasp
onto any of the
support bars and position themselves to sit in the chair.
When not in use the seat and arms are retracted by simply folding the unit
flush with the
wall.

USAC: Mode of Operation Summary
1. The chair is positioned at the desired height.
2. The chair is fully extended to the horizontal sitting position.

When one is finished using the chair, the platform is simply folded back to
vertical,
parallel to the wall, for convenience, and the shower/bathing area is free to
use.
The entire UASC protrudes approximately 4" from the wall when not in use. The
folding
support arms are engaged prior to positioning the char.


Claims
A manually operable fixture for sitting in the shower stall or bathing area,
comprising of
an adjustable platform/seat attached to freely embrace and slide up and down
on 2 rigidly



secured parallel columns (u channels) for the purpose of safe, independent
personal
hygiene.

I claim:
1. The possibility of having a permanent adjustable and comfortable chair that

occupies minimal space in the shower after use.
2. The possibility of adjusting the chair height from 20 cm. to 1 meter from
the floor
at 8 cm. increments.
3. The possibility for the elderly or handicap to easily adjust the chair
independently
while standing up.
4. The possibility to have built-in adjustable handles with the chair.
5. The possibility to make this design of aluminum or whatever material deems
fit.
6. The possibility of having it installed with screws.
7. The possibility to be used in hospitals, rehabilitation center and nursing
homes or
similar places.
8. The possibility to install to a prefabricated shower box.
9. The possibility to be used as a bide and commode.
10. The possibility to have an adjustable chair without dangerous
mechanical/electrical equipment.
11. The possibility to install the adjustable chair in the bathtub or shower.
12. The possibility of using the chair for physical rehabilitation purposes.
