One or more floating caissons whose horizontal upper face serves as the base for a swimming pool. Vertical partitions mounted on this face form the swimming pool enclosure. When a number of caissons are required, as a function of the desired swimming pool size and site-access constraints, said caissons are fastened together using a fixing device and the empty space between the horizontal upper edges of the caissons is closed by leaktight tongues. The fixing device and the tongues may be removed, thereby allowing one or more caissons to be removed independently of the others or allowing the entire structure to be dismantled. One or more caissons may be ballasted in order to control the height of the swimming pool and, if required, to keep it at a constant height when subject to tides. The swimming pool is a standalone swimming pool because its filtration and ballasting systems are installed in the floating caisson or caissons and one or more of the caissons is/are used as ballast tanks. The swimming pool may be moored in any appropriate location, be moved from place to place and be dismantled.
