English Abstract

A structure is comprising at least one plank (2) attached with a side to an edge of at least one joist (3) by means of at least one mount (4). The at least one mount is with at least two first openings (7, 7') at either side of the edge of the at least one joist and at least one other opening (8) above said edge. The structure is quick and easy to assemble. The assembling is strong and durable and do not involve any safety risk for the users. It also has a pleasant aesthetic appearance and can be made of hard wood.

thickness of the at least one hook (10;14) on the at
least one mount.
6. A structure according to any of the claims 1-5,
characterised in that at least two first attachment
holes (7) are arranged in the base (5) at either side of
the middle line of the topside of the at least one joist
(3), and that the at least one second attachment hole
(8) is offset from said middle line.
7. A structure according to claim 6, characterized in that

11. A structure according to any of the claims 1 - 10,
characterized in that the base (5;11) is formed with two
hooks (10 14) placed at the same side as the projection
(6;12).
12. A structure according to any of the claims 1 - 11,
characterised in that at least one preferable angular
incision (9;16) is formed in the edge of the base (5;11)
opposite the projection (6;12) for positioning the mount
on the underside of the at least one plank (2;18,19,20).
13. A structure according to any of the claims 1 - 12,
characterized in that the at least one mount is formed
of a plate.
14. A method for producing the structure according to the
claims 1- 13, characterized in comprising the following
steps,
- placing at least one mount on the at least one plank
(2;18,19,20) with the base (5;11) of the mount
abutting the underside of the at least one plank and
the at least one hook abutting an edge of said plank,
- attaching the at least one mount to the at least one
plank by means of a fastener through the at least one
first attachment hole (7,7';13) in the base of the at
least one mount,
- attaching the at least one plank (2;18, 19,20) to the

through the at least one second attachment hole
(8;15) in the projection (6;12) of the base of the at
least one mount.

17
15. A method according to claim 14, characterized in placing

16. A method according to claim 14, characterized in placing
the at least one second attachment hole (15) above an
area of the topside of the at least one joist (21)
situated outside the space between opposite edges of two
neighbouring planks (18,19,20).
17. A method according to claim 14 or 16, characterized in
attaching the first of the at least two neighbouring
planks (18,19,20) to the at least one joist (21) by
means of a fastener through the at least one second
attachment hole (15) in the projection (12) of the base
(11) of a first mount on the first plank and sideways
moving, the other plank against the first plank so that
the at least one second attachment hole of the
projection of the base of a second mount on the second
plank is placed between the topside of the at least one
joist (21) and the underside of the first plank.

CA 02671195 2009-06-01
The invention relates to a structure comprising t least one
plank with an underside attached generally trans ersely to a
topside of at least one joist, at least one ount placed
between said underside of the at least one pl k and said
topside of the at least one ioist, a base of the t least one
mount with at least one first attachment hol !, which is
communicating with the underside of the at least ob plank.,
,;.
Structures of this kind are widely used for exampl! for floors
in terraces, hoardings and pallets. ~
The Joist forms a bearing part of the structur`. It has a
relatively large height for being able to obtain tifie necessary
moment of resistance against being bent. The thic ess of the
joist may be smaller than the width of the planksi The planks
are norm1ly attached to the joists with a littl distance in
between.
Such structures have traditionally been assembled,by means of
nails or screws, which however can work up above t'e surface of
the plank-and cause a safety risk. The screws r nails can.
moreover be seen and detract from the aesthetic ppearance of
the structure and sometimes they also can discolo the area of
the structure surrounding the nails or screws.
~:.
in order to avoid these problems angular bracke s have been
used for. assembling the structures. The assembling:;operation by
means of such brackets is however difficult and tiuiI,e-consuming.
Mounts in form of plates with serrated edges are'wkl known and
can be used by being hammered into planks and ~oists to be
assembled. The obtained connections are however re!'atively week
and the operations difficult to carry out. Theseknown mounts
cannot be used when the structure is made of hard Wood.

EP0177959 disclose a nailing anchor comprising t~ horizontal
tabs positioned between a jo~.st and two neighbo ring planks,
and a v~ertical spacer body positioned between th two planks.
When assembled one of the tabs is nailed to the t pside-of the
joiet and the vertical spacer is nailed to the ver~ical side of
one of the planks.
US 4,844,651 disclose a fastening clip comprising rectangular
metal strip having a central arrow-like end for piercing the
edge of a wooden plank, and having holes on eithe. side of the
c ntral arrow-like end.
