English Abstract

Automatic Kitchen Cabinet openers are included 2 mechanisms. One mechanism is
designed for
swing door (Figure 1). Another one is designed for sliding drawers (Figure 2).
On Swing door
mechanism, a rotational motion is generated by a servo motor (bi-directional)
to open/ close
door. On sliding mechanism, rotational motion of a geared motor will be
converted to
translational motion to slide the drawer in or out. These motors are
controlled by a
microcontroller as one system or individual unit with IR motion sensors
integration or remotely
via Wi-Fi/ Bluetooth or voice control. The mechanisms are operated by 6V/ 12V
DC battery/
adapter

2. Automatic kitchen cabinet openers as claimed in claim 1 wherein the opening
actuator is a
4V - 9V DC electronic servo motor for Swing Door Mechanism and 6-24V DC geared
motor
on Slide drawer Mechanism
3. Automatic kitchen cabinet openers as claimed in claim 1 wherein the motor
actuators can
be grouped into one system to be controlled by a microcontroller with IR
motion sensors or
by voice control, Human Machine Interface, staples, Ipad, Ipod, or other smart
phone
devices etc.
4. Automatic kitchen cabinet openers as claimed in claim 1 wherein the motor
actuators can
be separated into sub-assemblies with individual microcontroller boards and
infrared
motion sensors
5. Automatic kitchen cabinet openers are designed to be the add-on mechanisms
to existing
home kitchen cabinets/ drawers (or manufactory integrated) to offer hand free
option.
With these mechanisms, the doors/ drawers can be manually or automatically
operated.

Description

Design description:
The main purpose of these devices is to open/close the door/drawer
automatically by
actuators. In figure 1, the mechanism is used to open swing doors which is
ideally used for
kitchen cabinet doors. In figure 2, the sliding mechanism is ideally used for
kitchen cabinet
drawers. However, both mechanisms could be used on similar application such as
dresser
drawers, etc. Each of the mechanism has one motor 6V/ 12V to generate the
force.
Operation:
Automatic mechanism can be triggered by switch or motion sensors. In figure 1,
a retractable
key is mounted on the servo, once an open command is received, servo will turn
180 degree
and push the lever on its way by this key to open the door. Vice versa, when
servo turns
opposite direction, it made the door close. The key is retractable by a spring
inside. (Additional
drawing is attached)
In figure 2, the whole mechanism is mounted underneath the drawer; the
rotatable anchor
mechanism is permanently attached to drawer. The hook is mounted on the belt
drive which is
driven by 6/12V motor. Once receives an open command, motor will drive the
hook forward, it
will wrap the anchor on its way to pull the drawer open. At the destination,
the flip gear
(behind the anchor) will hit a stop bar and turns to make the hook release the
anchor then stop.
Vice versa, when the motor turns opposite direction, it brings the drawer in.
(Additional
drawing is attached)
