English Abstract

A Railway Collision Avoidance System (RCAS) to be carried on all
Railroad Train cars mounted on the wheel bearing cover. It contains a
microcontroller, temperature sensor, indicators, and generator. The RCAS
generates its own power to power the microcontroller, the warning indicators
as
well as the temperature monitor. This is to give a self powered visual warning
system to avoid collusions with automobiles as well as for monitoring for
potential wheel bearing issues.

Claims

Note: Claims are shown in the official language in which they were submitted.

What is Claimed is;
.cndot. The Railway Collision Avoidance System (RCAS), connected to Train
car wheel bearing
cover bolts consists of
.cndot. Notification Indicators
.cndot. Generator
.cndot. Temperature Sensor
.cndot. Electricity Storage Device
.cndot. A microcontroller that is powered by the generator and electricity
storage device
that controls a predefined oscillation of the warning indicators as well as
monitoring the wheel bearing housing temperature.
.cndot. The Railway Collision Avoidance System (RCAS) is further comprising
a clock to
control the correct oscillation frequency
.cndot. The Railway Collision Avoidance System (RCAS) is further comprising
a clock to
control the sampling interval of the Temperature sensor.
.cndot. The Railway Collision Avoidance System (RCAS) is further utilizing
a
microcontroller to control the microcontroller brown out voltage
.cndot. The Railway Collision Avoidance System (RCAS) is further powered by
a gravity
driven self powered generator.
.cndot. The microcontroller utilizes low power sleep mode and watchdog
timers to
conserve electrical storage.
.cndot. The microcontroller uses either a analog to digital converter or
serial interfaced
temperature monitor
.cndot. The Railway Collision Avoidance System (RCAS) can also contain
Bluetooth or
short range RF module to communicate over temperature warning as well as the
visual indication

Description

Note: Descriptions are shown in the official language in which they were submitted.

RCAS
Railroad Collision Avoidance System
The RCAS is designed for providing a self powered, high intensity visual
warning system that is easily
retrofitted to any standard train wheel.
The RCAS will also give a different visual warning if the hub temperature goes
over a predefined level
indicating a potential problem with a wheel bearing or brake.
The construction of the RCAS is comprised of the following
= Generator
= Regulator
= Electrical Storage
= High Intensity Indication LEDS
= Microcontroller
= Temperature Sensor
= Housing with mounting flange
= Gravity Counter weight
The RCAS generator is mounted to the housing with the counterweight attached
to the rotor shaft to
keep it in a stationary position as the stator turns with the housing that is
attached to the wheel.
