Description

Note: Descriptions are shown in the official language in which they were submitted.

Description of the embodiment of invention
Cannabis and/or its components may be used to enhance edible products to put
to use the
effects of these components.
Cannabis enhanced edible products are a special case of edible products that
require exact
preparation methods and apparatus to be employed due to the active components
found in
cannabis that may be regulated by law.
The existing cannabis enhanced edible products are very limited in number and
have cannabis
components varying in concentration and are presently made mostly by applying
heath and/or
cold to a mixture consisting of non-cannabis ingredients and cannabis that may
be dosed into
the mix using conventional baking, brewing or chilling apparatus and methods.
Dosing of
cannabis is mostly manual and not accurate resulting in products that have
great variations in
cannabis components in the finished products.
The object of this invention is to present a method and apparatus that
consistently and reliably
makes a greater variety of cannabis enhanced hot or cold edible products that
follow a strict
recipe with a set and known concentration of cannabis and/or cannabis
components in the
finished product that conform to limits that may be set by law. The invention
makes possible
the use of cannabis extracts and/or cannabis component to be incorporated in
cold or hot
edible products.
In a preferred embodiment and method to make cannabis enhanced edible products
as
presented in Figure 1, the invention comprises a housing (1) that may have
built-in means for
controlled cooling and/or heating of the interior (2) of a processing or
mixing chamber (3) and
may have a dosing means (4) for the cannabis and/or cannabis extract and/or
cannabis
component (12) that may be connected to the said chamber (3). The means (4)
may be placed
on top of, bottom or any side of the chamber (3). The means (2) may be placed
on one side or
multiple sides of the chamber (3).
The chamber (3) may open to outside through a access means to allow placing,
processing or
mixing components (5) and may have a means to remove the processed or mixed
components
after the process is done (6). Also may or may not connect to means to store
the processed or
mixed components for other processing or consumption (7) mainly in the form of
containers,
bowls, cups, trays.
The means (4) to dose the cannabis and/or cannabis extract and/or cannabis
component (12)
may open to outside to allow placement of said (12) through a means (8). Once
these placed
inside, means (4) will provide the dose necessary for making the cannabis
enhanced mix. Also

the means (4) may have means to promote or enhance the extraction of active
components of
(12) preferably in the form of a separate controlled enhancing device (9).
The mixing chamber (3) may or may not include a mixing mechanism (10) for the
purpose of
providing a better mixing of all the edible products components.
In another embodiment the mixing mechanism (10) may be removable from the
mixing
chamber (3).
After the mixing of components in the chamber (3) the means (2) will heat or
cool the mixture
and may make a hot or cold edible cannabis enhanced product.
The means (4) may exactly dose the active components from the cannabis and/or
cannabis
extract and/or cannabis components (12) placed directly inside means (4) or
may use
predetermined amounts of a known concentration of (12) placed in a one time or
multi use
dosing means container (11) that may be placed in the means (4). The means
(11) may be
totally or partially porous and/or perforated or made in such a way to allow
the cannabis
components (12) to be enhanced into the product mix in chamber (3). The dosing
means
container (11) may be in the form of one or more capsule, pill, bag, envelope,
vial, bottle, jar,
package. The dosing means container (11) may contain along cannabis components
(12) other
ingredients as required by the recipe for the product.
In a particular case Figure 1 may represent a cannabis enhanced ice cream or
frozen drink
apparatus where the housing (1) contains the cooling means (2) that cool the
inside of the
processing chamber (3) to a temperature that is favourable to make ice cream
or frozen drinks.
The non-cannabis ingredients of the ice cream or frozen drinks are placed in
chamber (3)
through the means (5) and are removed after processing through product exit
means (6).
The cannabis ingredients of the ice cream or frozen drink are dosed to strict
specifications by
the dosing means (4). The cannabis and/or cannabis extract and/or cannabis
component (12)
may be placed directly into dosing means (4) and the means (4) provides the
required amount
of (12) or in another embodiment the required amount of (12) is predetermined
in a dosing
means container, capsule, pill or bag (11) placed into the dosing means (4)
through an access
means (8). The dosing means container (11) may contain along cannabis
components (12) other
ingredients as required by the recipe for the product. The dosing means
container, capsule or
bag (11) may be of multiple use and made in a way and out of a material to
make infusion
and/or reuse possible and could be prior art. The dosing means (4) may have a
means to extract
or enhance the extraction of cannabis components from (12) in the form a means
(9) that in
most cases may be a controlled heating means.

CA 2975752 2017-08-10

The ingredients may be mixed together by the mixing means (10) and when the
ice cream or
frozen drink is ready may be stored or consumed from a storing means (7) in
the form of
container, bowl, cup, cone or tray. These storing means (7) may be of edible
material.
The same method and apparatus from Figure 1 can be used to make cannabis
enhanced bread,
sweet bread or brownies in a particular embodiment of invention where the
means (2) provide
heating of the ingredients in the chamber (3). In another embodiment of the
invention the
means (2) provide the baking of the bread, sweet bread or brownies inside the
chamber (3) and
the means of placing the components (5) may be used to remove the finished
product having a
size to satisfy this operation.
The method and apparatus in Figure 1 may be used to make cannabis enhanced
butter, or
cookies or chocolate, or fudge, or candies or other enhanced edible products.
In another preferred embodiment as presented in Figure 2, it is presented
another
configuration of the invention and another method to make hot or cold cannabis
enhanced
edible products.
The apparatus comprises a housing (1) that may incorporate the heating and/or
cooling means
(2) and may have at least one processing chamber for non-cannabis components
(3) and a
dosing means (4) for the cannabis and/or cannabis extract and/or cannabis
component (12).
The non-cannabis components may be introduced into the chamber (3) through a
means (5)
that in one particular case may have a means to dose the non-cannabis
ingredients and may be
of a size as to allow storage of said components before processing.
The said non-cannabis ingredients may be heated or cooled according to the
recipe and may
use a means (8) to pass through cannabis dosing means (4) that contains the
cannabis and/or
cannabis extract and/or cannabis component (12). The dosing means (4) may
contain a
cannabis component enhancing means (9) that in some embodiments through
heating may
enhance the cannabis components. In a particular case the cannabis components
(12) are
predetermined in quantity and concentration inside a dosing means container
(11) that may be
for example a container, capsule, pill, envelope or bag that may be of single
use or multiple
uses. The means (11) may be totally or partially porous and/or perforated or
made in such a
way to allow the cannabis components (12) to become mixed with the other
components
passing through the means (4). The dosing means container (11) may contain
along cannabis
components (12) other ingredients as required by the recipe for the product.
The cannabis enhanced edible product may be delivered through a controlled
finished product
exit means (6) into a container for storage (7).

CA 2975752 2017-08-10

This method and apparatus as described in Figure 2 may be used to produce
cannabis enhanced
café, tea, hot chocolate or other enhanced drinks or other enhanced edible
products.
The invention described therein is not limited only to cannabis to enhance
edible products and
may use any other component that requires similar dosing and preparation
method to create
enhanced edible products.
