TECHNICAL FIELD:
The present invention is a therapeutically useful improvement in the field of
clinical health care where
the taping is designed and engineered to treat injuries, relieve pain and used
for rehabilitative purposes
as well. The present invention focuses on an improved design by introducing an
anti curl zig-zag edge,
the infusion of bioactive tourmaline crystals, a gem which has electro-
magnetic healing properties, as
well as the infusion of tea tree oil and eucalyptus oil both of which have
antiseptic and anti
inflammatory properties. These improved features provide pain relief, ease
muscle tension, reduce
swelling and inflammation, accelerate recovery time period for acute and
chronic conditions and
facilitate healing and rehabilitation.

DESCRIPTION OF HOW YOUR INVENTION ADDRESSES A TECHNICAL PROBLEM:
The primary objective of the preferred embodiment of the present invention is
to address and manage
the problem of pain, inflammation, swelling, decreased mobility and
rehabilitation in a natural, safe,
simple and cost effective way.
In general, the present invention achieves its above objective by infusing the
naturally medicated,
elastic kinesiology tape with bioactive tourmaline crystals and pre-treated
with tea tree oil and
eucalyptus oils and incorporating anti curl edges to prevent early fraying and
curling.
The natural healing properties found in tourmaline crystals, tea tree and
eucalyptus oils, individually
and collectively, enhance the effectiveness of the clinical use of the
kinesiology tape by re-educating
the neuro-muscular system during the injury phase as well as the
rehabilitative phase. The present
embodiments of the kinesiology tapes are formulated for trans-dermal delivery
of anti-septic and anti-
inflammatory properties that are effective in relieving pain and accelerating
the natural healing ability
of the body.
The inherent limitation of the current kinesiology tapes is the lack of the
infusion of natural therapeutic
products such as tourmaline, tea tree oil and eucalyptus oil to enhance the
body's natural healing
ability. Another limitation of many of the current kinesiology tapes is that
they tend to fray and curl
within a day or two after application. Each application is intended to be used
for 3 ¨ 5 days and the
early curling and the fraying of the edges reduce the effectiveness of the
kinesiology tapes that are
currently on the market.
The present invention will be designed with an anti curl, zig zag feature that
prevents the tapes from
fraying and curling and hence extends the therapeutic benefits as well as the
life of the tapes after
application.
The above features and advantages of the present embodiments of the naturally
medicated, elastic
kinesiology tapes will become more apparent from the claims stated above and
from the brief and
detailed descriptions as well as from the accompanying diagrams that follow.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION AND PRIOR ART:
The use of adhesive bandages to treat injuries and accelerate healing has been
well established for
centuries. However, the use of kinesiology tapes as rehabilitative devices has
become very popular in
the past decade or so with professionals, athletes and also with the public at
large.
Chronic or acute pain is the primary reason why patients seek medical help.
Neurogenic pain results
when the peripheral nervous system is damaged. Such damage results not only in
chronic pain but also
in other sensory deficits and diseases which in turn cause neuropathies. One
of the most common
examples of such neuropathies is diabetic neuropathy.
Managing any type of pain whether it is acute, chronic or neurogenic is very
challenging and often
requires the expertise of professionally trained pain management specialists.
Whenever there is an injury inflammatory substances such as histamines and
prostaglandins are
released from the inflammatory cells. These inflammatory substances migrate
through the blood to the
site of the injury causing pain. The sensory receptors in our skin send a
message via the a-delta and c-
fibres to the brain and spinal cord where the pain is registered and
processed. In order to successfully
treat any type of pain including neurogenic pain requires targeting the
receptors and transmitters that
are involved.
The embodiments of the present invention provide an effective, natural
composition of ingredients and
features to relieve pain by trans-dermal absorption.
In America alone, it is estimated that there are over 20 million people who
suffer from the adverse
effects of osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis is a degenerative condition that
causes the erosion of the
cartilage of the joints. The debilitating effects of osteoarthritis results in
instability, severe pain,
stiffness, inflammation and swelling, all of which compromise not only the
affected joint but also other
joints and body parts thus making it difficult for the injured individual to
participate in any physical
activity.

discomfort caused by bone rubbing against bone. Osteoarthritis or degenerative
arthritis is one of the
many conditions where kinesiology taping can provide relief without
compromising mobility.
The treatment and management of any pain is difficult and complex. There are
many treatment options
available to treat pain including over the counter and prescription
medications, acupuncture, injections,
Tens machine, surgery and body mind techniques. The use of adhesive tapes some
of which are infused
with analgesic and other pain blocking properties has become very popular in
recent years.
The popularity of kinesiology tapes has increased due to its effectiveness in
helping millions of people
gain therapeutic benefits naturally. There are numerous types of medical and
kinesiology tapes
available. However, a search of the prior art did not reveal any patents that
read directly on the present
invention. The present invention is for an anti curl, naturally medicated,
elastic kinesiology tape
infused with bioactive tourmaline crystals and pre-treated with tea tree and
eucalyptus oils.
The following discussion of prior art will briefly outline the U.S. Patents,
U.S. Patent Applications and
Canadian Trademarks Patents that may be related to the present invention.
Prior art U.S. patent number 9713351 is for a tape or bandage that is made of
an anisotropically
stretchable woven fabric that can stretch up to 125%.
Prior art U.S. patent application number 20170360542 is for an kinesiology
tape that is used primarily
for the treatment of animal wounds including equine and other animals but may
also be used for
humans.
Prior art U.S. patent application number 20160262943 is for a system, method
and device for
supporting a body part using kinesiology tapes.
Prior art U.S. patent number 9757401 is for a therapeutic tape compromising a
composition of sugar
and sugar alcohol which is formulated for transdermal application. The
composition of the emulsion
base and oil base is said to relieve pain.

trans dermal analgesic
properties which claims to use at least one or more of a list of over 70
ingredients. Eucalyptus oil is
mentioned amongst 70 plus ingredients. The only ingredients that are
specifically mentioned are 2% -
5% camphor and 1% - 4% menthol.
Prior art U.S. application number 20160076170 is for a polymeric material
providing infra red
emissions. The list of infra red emitting materials included is tourmaline as
only one of a list of several
other crystalline minerals as well as non metallic minerals.
The above U.S. application number 20160076170 listed a variety of goods
including garments,
hygienic articles, medical and surgical products, pet and animal care
products, bandages and tapes all
of which form part of the list. The infra red emissivity included a
combination of crystalline and non
metallic minerals.
Prior art U.S. application number 20150217098 is for a therapeutic elastic
tape or kinesiology tape that
includes one or more over the counter or prescription medicine, herbal
supplements, vitamins and
electrolytes for diffusion into the body of the user during utilisation.
A related search in the Canadian Intellectual Property Office site revealed a
word mark and trademark
for The Original Kinesiology Tape from Japan.
The first Canadian Application Number is 1424531. Registration Number
TMA762696. This
trademark has been registered with CIPO for adhesive tapes used as therapeutic
braces.
The second Canadian trademark which may be considered related is ARTZT.
VITALITY and DESIGN
Application Number 1447522. Registration Number TMA830166. The goods claim for
the above
trademark includes a wide variety of medical devices including tapes.
The third Canadian trademark which may be considered related is Ezee Tape
Trademark Number
1836573. This trademark is also registered with CIPO as sports, kinesiology
tape.

The fifth Canadian trademark is Application Number 1645869 and Registration
Number TMA907997.
This trademark is registered with CLPO under the name of Rock Tape which is a
version of a
kinesiology tape.
There were several trademarks, word marks and design marks that were
abandoned.
The present invention differs from all the above patents, patent applications
and trademarks in that the
embodiments of the present invention uniquely incorporate the following
ingredients and features:
an anti curl, naturally medicated kinesiology tape infused with bioactive
tourmaline and pre-treated
with tea tree oil and another embodiment infused with bioactive tourmaline and
pre-treated with
eucalyptus oil. The present invention will be designed and engineered to allow
and maintain the natural
physiological movements of the body.
The naturally medicated, elastic kinesiology tapes will be manufactured in
individual rolls as well as in
pre-cut tapes that can be used in a variety of different configurations to fit
the shape and the
functionality of the individual joints and body parts. The naturally
medicated, elastic kinesiology tapes
will be manufactured with cotton and spandex which is latex free and permeable
allowing for air
circulation and moisture evaporation. The outer layer of the naturally
medicated, elastic kinesiology
tapes is made of cotton and spandex and the contact layer below is made of
adhesive. The embodiments
of the present invention have a composition of ingredients that are formulated
for transdermal
absorption to relieve pain and promote healing.

naturally medicated, elastic kinesiology tapes will be made of cotton and
spandex and the contact layer
below will be made of adhesive.

One embodiment of the anti curl, naturally medicated, elastic kinesiology tape
will be infused with
bioactive tourmaline crystals and pre-treated with tea tree oil and another
embodiment will be infused
with bioactive tourmaline crystals and eucalyptus oil.
All the tapes are constructed of an upper layer made of flexible fabric and a
under layer made of
adhesive enabling the tapes to adhere to the skin. The tapes can be used in a
variety of configurations to
fit the shape and functionality of individual joints and body parts.
The elasticity of the tapes together with the adhesive causes the skin to lift
by applying gentle, force
thereby facilitating the healing process. The term elasticity refers to the
linear lengthening of the tape
when tensile force is applied.
The tapes will be available in rolls and in individual, pre-cut tapes that can
be used in a variety of
different configurations to conform to the shape and functionality of
individual joints and body parts.
Each individual roll of the naturally medicated, elastic kinesiology tapes as
well as the pre- cut tapes
for individual joints and body parts will be infused with bioactive
tourmaline. Tourmaline is a semi
precious gemstone that inherently emits infrared energy in the 4 - 14 micron
wave length range which
is in the far infrared spectrum. The electromagnetic properties in tourmaline
give the far infra-red rays
the ability to penetrate the skin and reach the deeper layers of the muscles
and tissues to promote
healing by enhancing the biological activity in all living cells. The
bioactive tourmaline crystals also
promote detoxification by reducing lactic acid build up thereby further
enhancing and accelerating the
healing process as compared to the current tapes in the market that are not
infused with tourmaline
crystals.
The infra red emitting properties found in tourmaline crystals works most
effectively when pulverised
to a powder where each particle is less than 1 micron. These nano sized
particles will be incorporated
or infused into the cotton and spandex fabric. Incorporation or infusion of
tourmaline in this present

embodiment implies that it can be sprayed, coated, injected, stuck on or
attached into the fibres of the
tape during manufacturing.
During manufacturing the pulverised tourmaline that will sprayed, coated,
injected, stuck on or
attached into the fibres of the tape will have a concentration of 3% - 6%. Any
higher concentrations of
tourmaline will cause overloading within the fabric causing it to become
brittle and to break.
Tea tree oil, also known as melaleuca, inherently has properties that make it
a natural anti-septic as
well as a natural anti-inflammatory oil thereby enhancing the tapes' ability
to treat injuries as compared
to all the tapes currently on the market that are not pre-treated with tea
tree oil.
Eucalyptus oil has a wide range of health benefits including anti-inflammatory
and anti-septic
properties that promote healing wounds and injuries and relieving muscle pain.
The naturally medicated, elastic kinesiology tapes are formulated for trans-
dermal absorption of anti-
septic and anti-inflammatory properties that are effective in relieving pain.
Naturally medicated implies that the upper layer of the tape will be infused
with minerals that are
naturally occurring and not synthetic or prescribed medicines.
The naturally medicated kinesiology tapes are constructed of latex free cotton
and spandex and both are
permeable materials that allows for air circulation and moisture evaporation.
The anti curl feature illustrated in the presented embodiment is an
improvement that will extend the life
and effectiveness of the tapes after application by preventing curling and
fraying at the edges.
The naturally medicated, elastic kinesiology tapes with pain relieving
properties of bioactive
tourmaline, tea tree oil and eucalyptus oil will be formulated for transdermal
absorption.

The pulverising of the tourmaline crystals increases the surface area as well
as improves the bio-
availability of the infra red emissions thereby increasing their effectiveness
in pain relief.
The nano particles also improve the transdermal absorption of the infra red
emitting rays to facilitate
healing.
The upper layer of the tapes are constructed of cotton and spandex and the
under layer is coated with an
adhesive glue.
There are two embodiments of the present invention. One embodiment is a
naturally medicated, elastic
kinesiology tape infused with bioactive tourmaline crystals and pre-treated
with tea tree oil and another
embodiment is infused with bioactive tourmaline crystals and pre-treated with
eucalyptus oil.
The pre-treatment and infusion of the tapes could take the form of being
sprayed, coated, infused,
injected or any other method to be decided upon at the time of manufacturing.
The exact amounts or
percentages of the ingredients will be decided upon at the time of
manufacturing.
The tapes will be available in rolls as well as pre-cut tapes both of which
can be used in a variety of
combinations and configurations to fit the shape and functionality of the
individual joints and body
parts.
The tapes will also be manufactured in a variety of colors as seen in the
visible spectrum or a
combination thereof. The visible spectrum refers to the portion of the electro-
magnetic spectrum that is
visible to the human eye.
