English Abstract

The invention provides a process for playing a wagering card game. The game
can be played with
three or more players and can be carried out at casinos or through mobile
device platforms. Each
player purchases tokens prior to entering a game. The game has multiple rounds
equal to number of
players who take part in the game. The deck has the same number of cards as
players. In each deck,
there is one "5", one "3", and one "1" card. The rest of the cards in the deck
are Jokers. Each round,
the cards are distributed on the table facing down. Each player takes turns
and reveals one card. The
players who select the 5, 3, and 1 cards score points. The "house" is
allocated 1 point per round as a
matter of course. At the end of each game, the points are tallied and winnings
are calculated based on
formulae.

DESCRIPTION
TITLE
The title of the invention is "5-3-1".
TECHNICAL FIELD
The present invention relates to a method of playing a wagering card game.
More specifically, it shares
characteristics with other card games involving wages being placed on a
certain outcome based on
random distribution of cards. The present invention also relates to a method
of playing a wagering
card game which is simple, easy to learn, and fast-paced.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION AND PRIOR ART
Wagering-type card games are well known and particularly popular in casinos
and mobile devices. In
a typical card game, winners are determined based on predetermined rules and
distribution of random
cards. The chance-element of these games yields uncertainties that result in
some games involving
wagers to be placed before the cards are seen by the player.
Popular wagering card games such as Poker and Blackjack operate on the same
method of determining
a winner. In particular, these games rely on interplay between the cards that
the respective player holds
or between cards that are shared by players. In Blackjack, for example, the
winner is determined by
adding the numerical value of the cards distributed to him. In Texas Hold 'Em
Poker, the winner is
determined by considering the cards the player has in its possession and the
ones that are distributed
commonly on the table.
Some wagering card games combine two games into one. For example, "21 Draw
Poker Game",
referenced as Patent 2324589 combines 21 and Poker into one game alternates
between the two games
each round. Other games modify current popular wagering games. For example, in
"Multiple Pay
Poker Game", referenced as Patent 2317160, allows players to play two separate
Poker games with a
partial or a full hand. In "A Method of Playing a Wagering Card Game",
referenced as Patent 2446167,
the players engage in a modified black-jack game which allows a single player
to win multiple wagers
in a single hand by winning against multiple players.

Common to most wagering card games is the notion of a minimum bet (i.e. a
certain predetermined
amount that the player needs to wager if he intends to participate in the
game). These amounts are
determined through house rules and are often in place to guarantee a certain
amount of winnings.
Winnings are often relative to other players. Accordingly, most wagering card
games are based on a
zero-sum winnings where the accumulation of winnings of one player is the
combined loss of other
players. While some games allow for multiple winners, it is an exception
rather than a rule. Traditional
card games described above espouse levels of complexion that may not appeal to
some players. This
may lead to higher levels of stress and corresponding lack of enjoyment of the
game.
Some prospective players do not participate in such games due to their
inherently complex
characteristic and learning curve. While a fraction of a given population is
well-versed in popular card
games such as Poker and Blackjack, a significant number of people are not
given the opportunity to
participate in simple and intuitive wagering card games for excitement and
enjoyment.
Accordingly, the present invention seeks to provide an inherently simple
method of playing a
wagering card game whereby players are not subjected to complexity that
accompanies other wagering
card games. This invention utilizes a combination of point system, random
chance cards, and wagering
over multiple rounds to create an enjoyable and intuitive gaming environment
for players.
The point system is similar to popular team sports leagues such as
professional hockey and soccer
leagues whereby each team accumulates points over multiple games and the final
rankings are
determined by the hierarchy of respective points for each team. Similarly, the
present invention allows
players to collect points each round by selecting certain cards. The winner is
determined at the end of
the final round by accumulating points and using that value in conjunction
with a formula to determine
winnings.
LIST OF FIGURES
The "Drawings" accompanied with this application illustrates the process of
playing this invention in
a simulated 6-player sample game.
Figure 1 illustrates the opening round of the game. At this juncture the
player have deposited their
tokens in the bank. Six cards are randomly placed on the table facing down.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF INVENTION
100 The present invention operates on the following principles:
1. This card game can be played with any number of players greater than 3.
2. Each game has "x" number of rounds, where "x" equals the number of players.
3. Games are played with a deck of cards comprising of "y" number of cards,
where "y" equals
the number of players.
105 4. In each deck, there is one "1" card, one "3" card, and one "5"
card. The rest of the cards are
Jokers.
5. Prior to entering a game, each player must purchase a number of tokens
equal to the number
of rounds/players. Tokens can be purchased in packs of 10, 30, or 50. Players
can redeem their
tokens at any time during the game by cashing in. The value of tokens is
determined by the
110 following formula:
Token Value =10(level-1)
6. The levels in this game have a direct bearing on the value of tokens and
winnings. Higher
levels yield larger wagers and winnings. A player can enter a higher level
only if it has finished
at least 10 rounds at a lower level. For example, to play at level 7, the
player must have played
115 at least 10 games in level 6.
7. Players in each game can be either invited by other players or be chosen
randomly by
computer.
The present invention is carried out through the following process:
120 1. Before entering the game, the players must each purchase one token
for each round of play.
The value of tokens is determined by the level the players are playing in. The
value of tokens
is determined by the following formula:
Token Value = 10(level-1)
2. Upon entering the game, each player deposit their respective tokens in the
"bank" if played in
125 a mobile game, and in the "house" if played at a casino.
4
CA 3015563 2018-08-27

3. The game begins with the first round. The dealer randomly distributing "y"
number of cards
on the table facing down, where "y" is the number of players in the game.
4. Starting with Player 1 each player takes turns and selects one card from
the distributed cards
on the table.
130 5. After selecting a card, each player turns over their respective
cards, revealing its value.
6. The player in possession of the "5" card collect five points; the player
in possession of the "3"
card collects three points; and the player in possession of the "1" card
collects one point.
7. This marks the conclusion of first round.
8. The subsequent rounds are carried out with the same process. The player who
selects a card
135 first rotates each round so that each player has one opportunity to
select first.
9. The points are tallied at the each of round until the completion of
final round.
10. The "bank" or the "house" receives one point per round as a matter of
course.
11. At the completion of final round the winnings are determined by the
following formula:
(Total Points Earned by Player
Winnings =
_________________________________________________________________________ x
Total Number of Tokens in Game x Token Value
Total Number of Points in Game )
