To whom it may concern this document and all figures and information included
within is an application for a patent in the name of Angle Armor for steel
lintel
covers. Included in this document are the following:
1. Description
2. Claims

Field of technology
[01] This product is meant for use in the field of construction as a covering
for steel
angle lintels.
Background
[02] Steel lintels, or angle irons, are utilized to support the weight of the
bricks or
masonry blocks above the openings, including but not limited to, windows,
garages
and doors, of structures or buildings. Overtime the exposed portion of the
fore
mentioned lintel oxidizes resulting in an unsightly appearance.
[03] This product is designed, as an aesthetic covering that will protect the
exposed
face of the steel lintel.
[04] This product is designed to be utilized with house wraps, including but
not
limited to Tyvek. The use of this product along with house wraps will divert
moisture over the lintel and away from the structure face, preventing the
oxidation
of the steel lintel.
[05] The vertical wall allows the integration of angle armor into existing
building
material, thus creating complete coverage, mimicking flashing of the steel
lintel.
Description of drawings
[Figure 01] Dimensional drawing depicting the installation of Angle Armor -
its
placement over the steel lintel and its integration into the existing building
material
[Figure 02] Cross section depicting the side view of Angle Armor and its
installation
over the steel lintel.
[Figure 03] Full scale cross section of Angle Armor installed over a steel
lintel
Detailed description of drawings
Figure 1: This drawing depicts the installation of Angle Armour shown from the

front face of the structure. As shown in the drawing the steel lintel supports
the
brick masonry above an opening such as a window or door. Angle Armour slides
over the Steel lintel. The short vertical wall of Angle Armour is then draped
over by
the polyethylene flashing. The Tar paper is then draped over the polyethylene

flashing. This layer of the Angle Armour, polyethylene flashing and finally
tar paper
utilizes a shingling pattern similar to roofing shingles to divert moisture
away from
the structure. Angle Armour used in tangent with polyethylene flashing and tar

paper works to provide protection over openings in homes having brick masonry.
Figure 2: This figure is depicting a cross section of Angle Armour and its
components installed as a unit over the steel lintel. Angle Armour slides over
the
steel lintel creating an over-under coverage. The underside of Angle Armour
covers
the exposed face of the steel lintel providing an aesthetic covering. The
short
vertical wall and the top horizonatl wall of Angle Armour act to provide
continuous
coverage of the Steel lintel allowing moisture to be diverted away from the
structure. The short vertical face of Angle Armour is draped by the
polyethylene
flashing as well as the tar paper to create a shingled effect. The tar paper,
polyethylene flashing, and Angle Armour work to create a continual coverage of
the
Steel Lintel this diverting moisture away from the structure.
Figure 3: This image is depicting a cross section of Angle Armour. Angle
Armour is
comprised by 4 walls, 2 vertical and two horizontal. The two horizontal walls
and
the short vertical wall work to create an over-under component that can slide
over
the horizontal component of steel lintels. The large vertical wall provides a
surface
for the polyethylene flashing, and similarly the tar paper to be draped over.
Claims:
1. Angle Armour is a product designed to serve as an aesthetic covering for
the
exposed face of steel lintels which is a product used to support the brick
above openings such as windows and doors.
a. Typically, the bottom face of the lintel is exposed and can rust
overtime becoming unsightly. Angle Armour covers this face.
2. The larger vertical face of Angle Armour is designed to create a surface
for
the integration polyethylene flashing. This, along with the use of Tar paper
allows for continual coverage of the steel lintel.
3. Used in tangent with polyethylene flashing and tar paper, Angle Armour
provides continual coverage of the Steel Lintel diverting moisture away from
the exposed face of the structure
