This invention relates to a box ~or the dispoQal
of garbage, and more particularly, to an snclosure of the type
adaptsd to hold garbage bag~ while fillinq the~ uith garbage for
disposal of the latter.
There haue before been proposed enclosures to hold
garbage bags for ths filling thersof with garbage. Such prior
art enclosures present some problems such as for instancs of bad
smells since the cover does not close tight and the bag or bags are not
either tightly closed, and by the fact that the means to hold the
10 ...... mouth of the bag which is not adapted to positivsly support the
mouth of the bag around all its periphery and garbage is thus
allowed to accidentally drop ovsr into the enclosur6 whsre it is
forgotten and it rottens. ~esides, in such prior art enclosures,
~uch as the one shown in U.S. Patent no. 2,796,309, the top of
the snclosure is horizontal and at the hsight it must be to
acco~odate standard garbage bags, it is difficult to clcanly drop
the garbage in ths bags.
It is a general object of the present invsntion to
provide a garbage disposal bag enclosure ~hich is particularly made
to p~avent the spreading of bad s~ells and thus which allo~s to fill ~`
all the bags full without having to di~poss of only partly filled
bags to get rid of bad smellY.

- It i8 a more specific obj~ct of the prssent inuention
to provide a garbage disposal bag enclosure ~hersin ths cover tightly
closes the bags while-they are held operatively distended inside ``
the enclosure.
It i~ another object of the present invention to
provide a garbage disposal bag enclosurs ~herein the co~er and the
bags are arranged for easy opening and closing of the cover and for
easy access to the mouth of the bags and dropping of garbage therein.
It is a further object of the present invention to
pro~ide a garbage dispo~al bag enclosure which is adapted to use

standard garbags bags as well as ordinary grocery p;~per bags and
thus p~duce an economy in the purchass of garbay~ oags.
It is still another objsct of the pr~sent inuention
to provide a garbaye disposal bag enclosure wher~in the ~outh of
each bag is supported all along the periphery thereof to minimize
accident~l dropping oF garbage outsid~ the bags held in distendod
operati~e position in th~ enclosure.
The above and other objacts and dvantages of the
pressnt invention will b~ better undurstood wit~l roference to the fol-
10 lowing detailed description of a pref~rred embodiment thereof which
is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective vie~ of a garbage disposal
bag enclosure according to a preferred embodiment of the present
invention and shown with the cover opan;
Figure 2 is an enlarged perspective view of the same
garbage disposal bag snclosure shown fully open and with p~rt broken
away;
Figure 3 is a Qide eleuation ~iew as saen from the
left in Figure l; and
Figure 4 i8 a cross-sectional view of the upper portion
of tho encloQur~ as seen along line 4-4 in Figure 1.
Ths illustrated garbage disposal bag enclo~uIe comprises
a box including opposite sides 1 and 2, a back 3 and a front 4 having
thsir top edga S forming a forwardly inclined plane. A cover 6 is
hlng~d at 7 along the uppsr edge of ths back 3 to clos2 in downwardly
inclined position on the upper edg~s 5.
A partition 8 ext~nds between th~ back 3 and th~ front
4 and laterally dividss the box into a right bag holding compartmont,
a lef' bag holding co~part~ent, and a left bag supply compartmsnt
G ~ith th~ lattar undsrlying ths lsft bag holding compartment. The
bottom 9 of the right bag holding compartmsnt and tbe bottom 10 ~f
t~,e lcft bag holding compartm~nt are forwardly inclir)sd comm~nsoratc

with the inclination defined by the top edges 5. The bag supply
compartment includes a flat horizontal bDttom 11 and a shelf 12
allo~in? to separatsly stack a supply of garbage bags 13 and of
paper bags 14. A hinged door 15 allows access to the bag supply
compartment and is foril?ed with an internal shelf or pocket 16
to hold a supply of ties, cords, or the liks fasteners for the
filled bags.
An internal molding 17 is provided against ths sides
~ 1~ 2, the back 3, and the front 4 ana' is forwardly inclined comoensurate
1~ with the top edges 5 to support a bag holding frams 18 in forwardly
inclined position upon resting thereon. The bag holding fri~ne may
be of any appropriate construction to form bag holding apertures 15',
19 and 20. In this case, the frame 18 includes a pancl 21 formed
with thi3 apertures 15, 19 and 2~ therein. The apertures 19, 19
overlis ths inclined bottom 10 and are similarly inclined at a
suitable distancc~? therefrom to hold paper bags 14 in fully distended
position therein. The aperture 20 overlies ths inclined bottom 9
and is similarly inclined at a suitable distance or hnight therefrom
to hold a garbage bag 13 in fully distended position therein~ Each
bag halding aperture 19, 19 and 20 is foriT?ed with a flange 22 or 23
upwardly projscting edgewise.
The cover 6 includss a plate or board 24 and a padding
~nat 25 lining the internal faci-? thereof~ The mat 25 is arranged
to tightly close th0 mouth of the bags upon closing the cover, as shown
in Figurs 4~ The ~at 25 includss a sheet of r-esilient foam covered
by a plastic shei-?t 26 which may t?e easily cleanod. A spring tsnsioned
latch 27 tightl~ closee, the? hinged covsr 6 over thi3 ~outh of the bag.
The garbage bags 13 and 14 are put in place by inserting
then? downward into the apertures 19 and 20 and rolling the mouth portion
iof each bag over the corresponding flange 22 or 23, Preferably, a
band 28 is engaged around each flange to clainp the moiJtn c?f ~he
correspo!?ding bag. It must be noted that the botton?s 5' and 10 are
IIQ~
spaced and inclined a predetermined distance under the frame 18
such that the paper bags 14 of the grocery typs and the usual ~ -~
plastic garbage bag 13 operatively rest in fully distended position
as shown in Figure 3.
To remove any filled bag~ the frame 18 may be lifted
such that the bag is removed from under it.
~ It must be noted that ths choice of bags allou~ to , ~-
,~ use the standard grocery paper bags such as to put non-rotting or - `
! - dry refuss in them.
~,~ lD The inclined cover 6 and frame 18 make it much easier ~ -
to put something in the bags sinc~ the mouth of the bags opens for~ard ~
as ~ell a~ upuard. - -
