1138~
-1 -
THIS INVENTION relates to a wall display
assembly and component parts thereof particularly
adapted for use by sports enthusiasts.
It is an object of this invention to provide
a wall display assembly for exhibiting sports events,
or sports personalities, or both.
It is a further object of this invention to
provide a wall display assembly which can be secured
to a conventional wall covering or which itself can
form the wall covering.
Further objects of this invention will become
evident in view of the following detailed disclosure.

-- 2 --
In accordance with this invention there is provided a
wall display assembly which comprises a wallboard having a
shape and markings thereon representative of a sports play-
ing area, means for attaching said wallboard to a wall, a
5 plurality of holes in said wallboard and at least one frame
having hanging means in the form of a hook for passing
through a said hole and engaging a rear surface of the wall-
board for attaching the frame to the wallboard, said frame
having surfaces for receiving and retaining an object to be
10 displayed at a selected location on the wallboard in relation
to the playing area.
The sports playing area may be of a sport, such as
football, baseball or the like.
The frame may be shaped to accommodate a picture (the
15 object to be displayed) or to provide a platform upon which
to place an object such as a sports related object.
When forming the wall covering, the back surface of
the wallboard can be coated with an adhesive composition
- whereby it can be adhesively attached to a wall. However,
20 it is preferred, in any event, that the board area having
the holes be spaced from any other surface against or on
which it is supported so that hooks can be used to project
through the holes to

support the displays. Spacer means or feet are thus
preferably provided on the back of the board and these
are dimensioned so that hooks do not foul and thus
mark or scratch the wall behind the board.
The invention will now be further described by
way of example with reference to the accompanying
drawings in which :-
Fig. 1 is a front view of a baseball wallboard
according to this invention;
Figs. 2,3 and 4 are front views of a hockey
wallboard, football wallboard and
basketball wallboard respectively;
Fig. 5 is an isometric view of a display means
of this invention;
Figs. 6 and 10 are front oblique views of
alternative display means;
Figs. 7, 8 and 9 are each-isometric views of
still further display means each of which
is particularly adapted for association
with a specific sport.

_4_
Referring firstly to Fig. 5 of the accompanying
drawings, the display means 10, in this case, includes
a circular frame.12 comprising an upper semi-circular
frame section 14. The lower frame section 16 extends
outwardly from the upper frame section 14 to form an
inwardly directed.lip 18. This construction of the
frame 12 permits the insertion of a circular picture
20 into the frame 12 so that it rests against the outer
surface of the upper frame section 14, against the inner
surface of the lip 18 when in place and has its lower
edge located between a stop 22 and the flange 18. In
this embodiment, the picture 20 is removable from the
frame so that it can be replaced.
The frame 12 includes, at the top thereof,
- 15 an L-shaped hook 11 which fits operatively into a hole
13 in the wallboard 15 and a pin 17 is provided at the
bottom of the frame to fit into a different hole 19 of
the wallboard 15. The pins 17 on the frames are op-
tional.
.
20The L-shaped hook 11 has one limb 11a extending
rearwardly and the other 11b vertically upwardly so
that the latter limb engages behind the wallboard in

use. The pin 17, in each case, simply extends rear-
wardly at right angles to the plane of the frame and
into its hole 19 to prevent swinging of the frame.
A platform display means 23 may alternatively
be used and is also shown in Fig. 5. The platform
display 23 comprises a platform 25 and a depending
front wall section 24 formed by a cut-out section 26.
The platform display 23 may be hung from the wallboard
15 by means of L-shaped hooks 28 which fit into
holes 30 in the wallboard 15. These hooks are the
same as those described above. The platform 25 can
support an article such as a trophy 32 on its upper
surface when in place on the wallboard 15.
Referring now to Fig. 6 of the drawings, the
display means may, alternati~ely, comprise a rectangular
frame 34 having an access slot 36 in the top and into
which a rectangular picture 38 can be slid so that its
edges are located in channels in the inner surfaces of
the frame. The frame 34 may be hung from a wallboard
by means of an L-shaped hook 40 similar to that described
abo~e.

~13~1~9
Referring now to Fig. 1 a wallboard 15 may
simulate a baseball field design 44 and a plurality of
frames 12 may be hung about the periphery and within
the field 44. It is, however, preferred that simple
stickers 42 be applied to the peripheral region and
such stickers may cover any required printed material
or pictures. In addition, larger frames 46 may be
provided within the field design 44. In this case,
the frames may be made to resemble a part of a baseball
ball as shown in Fig. 7 in which case the display has
a flat face for adhesively supporting a picture.
-Referring now to Fig. 2, a wallboard 48
simulates an ice hockey rink design 50 and frames 12
may be hung both within the rink 50 and along the
periphery of the rink 50. Alternatively, and prefer-
ably, stickers 49 may be applied to the peripheral
region. In this case, the frames could resemble an
ice hockey puck as shown in Fig. 8. In this case, a
picture is to be adhesively attached to the front face
61 of the frame.
Referring now to Fig. 3, a wallboard 51 simulates
a football field design 52 which can be provided with a
plurality of frames or platform displays (not shown)

either within the field and/or along the periphery
of the field. In this case, the frames may be similar
to those illustrated in Figs. 7 and 9 but are shown
in Fig. 9 and simulate a part of a football 62.
Referring now to Fig. 4, a wallboard 54 simulates
a basketball court design 56 which also can be provided
with a plurality of frames or platform displays (not
shown) either within the court or along its periphery.
Again the frames may simulate a part of a basketball.
A similar frame 63, but rectangular in shape
(see Fig. 10) may be made to adhesively receive, on its
front face 64, a sticker carrying a picture thereon.
It is to be understood that this invention is
not limited to the specific embodiments shown or
described but includes modifications which will be
evident to the person skilled in the art.
