SHELTER CARRIAGE SYSTEM

ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE
A system for carriage of a shelter such as a garage in
erected form with a trailer or truck adapted to readily mount
and carry such shelter on it such that the truck or trailer may
be conveniently used to carry loads on a work site; the shelter
forms a garage for the trailer or truck, and the latter is also
used to readily move the shelter or garage to another site
whenever desired. The trailer includes laterally extending arms
to engage under the lateral sills of the shelter and the latter
has a front wall with portions folding away for the passage of
the arms upon loading and unloading of the shelter on the trailer
or truck.

Revendications

THE EMBODIMENTS OF THE INVENTION IN WHICH AN EXCLUSIVE
PROPERTY OR PRIVILEGE IS CLAIMED ARE DEFINED AS FOLLOWS:
1. A shelter carriage system comprising a vehicle
body defining a pair of opposite lateral sides, arms pivoted to
the vehicle body on the opposite lateral sides thereof and having
each an outer and forming a seat constructed and arranged to up-
wardly engage against a lateral sill of an overlying shelter to
support the latter, and a brace collapsably connecting each of
said arms to the corresponding lateral side of the vehicle body and
constructed and arranged to allow operative outward deployment of
the arms relative to the lateral sides and collapsed storage of
the latter against the lateral sides.
2. A shelter carriage system as defined in claim 1,
wherein the vehicle body includes a box having opposite lateral
sides, said arms are connected to the lateral sides of said box
outwardly thereof and are pivotable transversely relative thereto.
3. A shelter carriage system as defined in claim 2,
wherein at least one roller is carried on the outer end of each of
said arms and forms a seat rollably carrying the corresponding
lateral sill of a shelter resting thereon.
4. A shelter carriage system as defined in claim 3,
wherein said arms are laterally spaced apart one from another lon-
gitudinally of the vehicle body and have an inner end pivoted at
the bottom of the corresponding lateral side of the box, and a
pair of rollers are rotatably connected to the outer end of each
of said arms in rolling alignment one with the other longitudinally
of the vehicle body.
5. A shelter carriage system as defined in claim 4
wherein each of the braces includes a cable having an upper end
attached to the top of the corresponding lateral side and a lower
end attached to the outer end of the corresponding arm.

6. A shelter carriage system as defined in claim 5,
wherein said rollers have each a peripheral groove to complementarily
engage said lateral sills.
7. A shelter carriage system as defined in claim 1,3
or 5, further including power-operated means varying the effective
length of each brace to raise or lower the shelter supported by said
arms relative to said vehicle body.

8. A shelter carriage system as defined in claim 5 or 6,
further including a hydraulic cylinder and piston unit for
each cable and serially connected therewith, for selectively varying
the effective length of each cable to raise or lower the entire shelter
or portions thereof by said arms relative to said vehicle body.

FIELD UF THE IN~ENTION
This invention relates to a sy~t~m for tha carriage of an
srected shelter such as a garage or the like buildincg ano in parti-
cular to a shelter csrriage system of the type including a vehicle
particularly adapted to form a carrier for such building and
including also a shelter aciapted to bs so carrir~d.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PRIOR ART
To our knowledge~ thers have not bean propossd horstofore
a shelter carriage systam of the above type. Ths trailers or
trucks that hava been proposed before wsre not adapted to carry
a shelter in srected form on them and the shélters or buildings
were not specifically made to be carried in erected form.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
It is a general object of the prssent inuention to provide
a shslter carriage systsm of the above typs; that is, wherein a
truck or trailer and the ~helter are cooperatively constructed
and arrangHd to readily carry a shel-ter in erected Form.
It is an object of the present inuention tD provids a
trailer or truck particularly adaptscl to carry an srr~cted shelter
without dismantling it.
Ib is a furthsr objsc-t of the present invention to prouide
a shslter carriage systsm of the above type wherein the truck or
trailer may be used to carry parts, tools9 and/or materials on a
work site and the shelter is made to form a garags for the trailer
or truck to rsadily protect its load against bad wsathsr and
whsrein ths trailer or truck may sngage under the shelter and
carry it to another work site.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRE~ EMO~IMENT
Ths illustrated sheltsr or garags carriage syst~m comprises
a garags 10 and a trailer 11 adapt0d to carry it~
Th~ garags 10 includss opposite sids walls 12, a rQof 13~

as on ths right in Figure 4, the Antrancs aperture is thus widened
laterally the full width of the garage 10.
An H shape metal extrusion member 18 is fix~d with its web
flat against ths bottom sdgs uf each sids wall 12 to form a down-
wardly opsning longitudinal groove in which is rstained a latsral

Curtain or skirt~ 21 are fixedly attached along ths lower edge
o~ each ~ida w~ll 12 and oper~tlvely deployed to form a wind0croen

Ths trailer 11 comprises a vehicle body including mainly
a rectangular box 22 having a pair o~ side walls 23. Lateral arms
24 ara pivoted at one end to the lowsr edge portion of each side wall
23 and are spaced apart one from anuther along those side wall~. The
armR 24 are thus pivoted about a longitudinal axis. ThH outer end of
each lateral arm 24 rotstably carries a pair of roller~ 25 that
rollingly engage under the corrssponding lateral sill 19. Each roller
25 i~ peripherally grooved with a tran~versaly-rounded pro~ile
comple~entary to the transu~rse profile of the lateral sill 19. A
cabl~ 26 i8 attached at a lower end each to a corre~ponding arm 24 at
an upp~r end at the top of tha c~rresponding ~ide wall 23. A cable
length adjusting device 27 is preferably serially att~chod to each
cabla 26. Each device 27 i8 preferably a hydraulic rylinder and piston
unit with an ind0pendent hydraulic control circuit oparated by tho
driver of tha trailer truGk.
The box 22 uf the trailer 11 i8 u~ed to carry any desirod
load on a wnrk ~ite and to the work site. Su~h load can, for instance,
be parts, tools or materials required for a projsct. The garage 10
is u~ed as a ~imple garaga ~ftsr its installation on a site. Then,
the lateral sill~ 19 re~t un block~ 20. The garage is carried sway
by succes~ively engaging the rollers 25 under the lateral sills 19,
while successi~ely rsmoving ths blocks 20.
When the garage ha~ reached a new site for ita instal-
lation, the trailar is slowly driven out of th~ garage while blocks
20 are si~ultaneously plac~d under th~ lataral sills to ~upport th~
garag~ when itR load i8 Rhifted on them rather than on the arm~ 24
snd roller~ 25.
Salectiva operation of the hydraulic cylinder and piston
units 27 permits to rais~ ~nd law0r portion~ o~ the gsrage within

curtain llmitR during transfer o~ the garage betwe~n rollers 25 and
block~ 20 and to raiss or io~sr ths entire garage or portion th~reoP
during its traneport over rough ground in order to clear obstacl0s.
Whan only the trailer 11 i3 hauled by the trailer truck
over a regular road, the arms 24 are attached in elsvated verticsl
position along ~ide walls 23.
