ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE
A holder to hold and support a stop cock
manifold above a floor. The holder is of solid rectangular
shape having a longitudinal channel open at both ends and
defining two upright side flanges. One of the flanges has
a fastening means to fixedly hold the manifold in the
channel. The other flange is formed with a middle opening
to receive an outwardly transversely projecting ripple of
the manifold. The holder is supported by a support means
which can be partially disassembled for sterilization
purposes.

~;~Q~
FIELD OF ~IE INVENTION
. . _
The present invention rel&tes to medical acceasorles, more
sp~cifically to a novel support for seop cock manifolds used, for
example, ln operating roo~s.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
. . _ . . . _ _ , . . .
Stop cock manifolds are basically conduit relays used to
dlrect and channel the flow of various fluid3 between supportive ~edical
machinery and a patient on the operating table. Till now, the hoses
connected to stop cock manifolds and the manifolda themselve~ have
simply lain on the operating room floor or extended in mid-air, thereby
constituting a physical hazard to the patlent.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
Accordingly, it i8 the 8i~ of this invention to provld~ a
~top cock manifold holder which will effectively and 3ecurely support at
least one stop cock manifold in a readily acce~sible positlon above the
floor o an opera~ing room~
It is a corollary ob~ect of the pre~ent invention to provide a
stop cock manifold holder whlch can be partially dismantled for sterlliz-
ation purposPs.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
In general, the invention i8 compri~ed of a holder for a ~top
cock manifold, whLch holder i8 in the shape of a rectangular block havlng
a longitudinal channel open at both ends, which i8 dimensio~ally ~lightly
larger than the manifold body. The channel deflne~ two upr~ght side
flanges. One of the flange~ ha~ a manifold fastening me&n~ to tightly but
removably hold a manlfold in place in the channel. The opposlte side
flange is formed with an aperture adapted to receive o~e o~ the nipples of
the manifold, the nipple projecting transversely outwardly.
Support means for the holder are provldedt in comblnation to
support the latter above the floor, con~i3ting oi a rigid rod ~ecured to
the bottam ~urface of the holder. The rod is fixed at lts lower

end to a substantially horlzontal rigid ~em.
The latter 13 in turn det~ch~bly ~tt~caed by an attachment
mean~ at itfl oppos~te end to an annulu~. The ~nnulu~ le mounted at lt~
central hold, and preferably ~lldably ~o, eO an uprlght post thereby
supportlng ~he entlre structure of the inv2ntion ~bove ~h~ flo~r.
Preferably, the annulus h~a detachsbly ~ttached o itcelf
two stema ~o thaL two m~nifold~ can be ~upported. ''
;~IEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

releasably hold a stop cock manifold 18 Ln the holder, consisting of Q
tightening knob 20 formed with a transverse short shaft 20' which i~
threadedly engaged in flange 14. The free end of shaft 20' protrudea
through the Lnner side of flange 14 and i8 iitted wi~h a plastic pad 20"
to firmly abut the side of manLfold 18 while preventing dam~ge to the
latter.
Preferably, the circumferential ed8e of knob 20 is sarrated
to afford a better grip.
The other flange 16 is provided with a middle opening 22 whlch
is adapted to receive one of the nipple~t 18' of manlfold 1~, a~ best seen
in Fi~ure~ 2 and .~, openlng 22 e~tends below the floor of chan~el 12
and is co-formed with a transver~e groove 12' made in the floor of
channel 12 to accomodate the downward protuberance 18" of a standard
stop cock 18"' of the manifold. The latter ha~ a generally rectangul~r
body provlded with a plurality of nipples 18~ and stop cock~ 18"'
as i8 known.
The support mean~ for each holder 10 comprises a short rod 24
rigidly flxed to the bottom of the holder at one end and to a rigid
horizontal stem 26 at it~ other end.
The inner end of 8 tem 26 is in~ertable into a rAdial hole made
in an annulus 2B. The attachmene means thereat consist o~ a tightening
screw 30 thre~dedly ex~Pnding into ~nnulus 28 in a non-radi~l manner~ which
screw 30 tighteningly ~ontacts stam 26. The exterior end of screw 30
has a second knob 30' which i3 al80 serrated along it~ clrcwmferential
edge.
The support mean~ i8 completed by A vertical ~upport po8t 32
adapted to extend through the central hole 28' of annulu0 28. The latter
18 locked against post 32 by ~ second, r~dially extending, screw 34
threadedly engaged in the annulus. Screw 34 is formed a~ it~ exterior
end with anoth~r knob 34' which is identical to knobs 2~ and 30! to
iacilitate manufacture.

~2~
The f igures show two holders 10 supported by annuluz 28 and
post 32. Obviously, there can be provided only one holder 10 or a plu-
rali~y of holders 10, a~ desired.
