Abstract
In a tool for cleaning paint brushes and rollers, manual work
is applied in order to spin the paint brush or roller, allowing
centrifugal force to clean and dry them. In this invention the
spiral spindle and handle assembly used for manual operation is
replaced by a shaft which can be inserted into an electrical hand
drill. This improvement allows the drill to power the cleaning
tool, which in turn cleans the brushes and rollers faster and better.

Revendications

The embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive property
or privilege is claimed are defined as follows:
1. A paint brush and paint roller cleaning tool, powered
by an electric drill, and consisting of a plastic cylin-
drical holder having an inside cross-section suitable for
the entrapment of a paint brush handle, and an outside
cylindrical shape with two runners allowing for a friction
fit into a paint brush roller.
2. A tool as defined in claim 1 in which a steel shaft is
molded into the cylindrical holder, allowing for the
tool to be inserted into a hand drill.
3. A tool as defined in claim 1, or claim 2, in which the
plastic brush handle holder is retained by an end cap
glued onto the cylindrical holder.

Abstract

This invention relates to an electrical hand drill operable
tool used for cleaning paint hrushes and rollers.
It is common in paint brush and roller cleaning tools to use
manual power to spin the cleaning tool. Spinning of the cleaniny
tool is obtained through a pumping action of the handle along the
spiral spindle. This means of propulsion has two setbacks:
1. ~he tool has a limited life span due to the wear on the
bearings within the handle.
2. Manual power offers low angulax velocity of the cleaning
tool, therefore lowering the quality of cleanliness of the
paint brush and roller acted upon.
This invention overcomes the above disadvantages by replacing
the spiral spindle and handle assemly with a shaft, This shaft
allows the tool ~o he inse~ted into an electrical hand drill, This
insertion eliminates the complexity o~ the spiral ~pindle and handle
assem~ly, and obtains a ~leaner paint brush and roller due to the
increase in angular velocity o~ the cleaning tool which is induced
by ~he electrical hand drill.

The tool illustrated consists of a cylindrical holder 1, which
is a plastic cast. This cylindrical holder is the basic body of the
40 tool, and consists o an interior cross section that is suitable for
the entrapmen~ of a paint brush handle. The outside of the cylindri-
cal holder consists of a circular cross section, with two opposingly
protruding sunners 2. The runners 2, allow a tight fit between the
tool and a paint roller, pre~enting seperation between the two while
the tool is spinning during a cleaning process. The cap 3, is glued
