ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE
The present invention refers to an assembly for the
attachment of overhead lines, specially power lines to an
insulator, having a loop formed of at least two twisted wires,
which are bent at approximately the midline in a bend region,
forming two legs so as to lodge said cables between the twisted
legs thus formed, the bend region being smooth and untwisted.
The object of the invention lies in providing an assembly that
dispenses with the utilization of a connection element convent-
ionally employed in the installation of overhead networks.
Such object is attained by the invention due to the fact that
the wires of said loop can be separated in two groups in
the bend region, a pin having at least one retention element
being provided, said pin cooperating with an insulator and
insertable in the loop.

The embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive
property or privilege is claimed are defined as follows:
1. Assembly for the attachment of overhead lines
specially of power cables to an insulator, having a loop formed
of at least two twisted wires which are bent approximately
in the midline in a bend region, forming two legs so as to
lodge said cables between the twisted legs thus formed,
the bend region being smooth and untwisted characterized in
that the wires of said loop can be separated in two groups in
the bend region, a pin being provided with at least one
retention element, said pin cooperating with an insulator
and insertable in the loop.
2. Assembly according to claim 1, characterized in
that two safety rings and one counter-pin are employed as
retention elements, cooperating with a round-head pin.
3. Assembly according to claim 1 or 2, characterized
in that a pointed cap having a vertex facing a direction opposite
the insulator is applied over a fitting projection of insulator.
4. Assembly according to claim 1, characterized
in that the loop has an even number of wires.
5. Assembly according to claim 4, characterized
in that four wires are provided in said loop.

SPECIALLY POWER CABLES TO AN INSULATOR
The present invention refers to an assembly for the attach-
ment of overhead lines, specially of power cables to an insul-
ator, with a loop formed of at least two twisted wires, which
are bent in the middle at a bending region, forming two twisted
legs, so as to lodge said cables between the twisted legs thus
formed, the bending region being smooth and untwisted.
Loops of the aforementioned kind have for a long time
been employed in overhead transmission lines.
Accordingly, in a co~ventional manner, the insulators
are installed on the transmission posts or towers and the
power cables are attached to the insulators in the following
manner: the region of bending of the loop is placed over a
connection element, the helically t~listed legs are braided
over a section of the cables and the connection element is
then a~tached to the respective insulator in a projection
provided with an opening.
Such connection element consists basically of two
plates parallel to each other, having axial bores made near
one end thereof and one essentially cylindrical element
intercofinecting them near the other end, all this made in
on~ single cast part.
The region of loop bend is fitted bet~Jeen said plates
over the cylindrical element, and between the two plates
is fitted the insulaltor projection, provided with an opening
with which said axial bores are aligned for intrduction of
a transfixing pin that ensures the attachment between the
connection ele~ent and the insulator.
In spite of its broad utilization, the need of providing
an additional connection element bet~leen the loop and the
inslllator is a disadvantage.-
Accordingly, the object o~ the invention is to provide
an assembly of said kind, that dispenses ~iith the utilizationof the connection element, thereby substantially redllcing
the installation costs and assuring nevertheless a quite
simple and safe attachment.-

Such object is attained, according to the invention, by
the fact that the loop wires are separable into two groups
in the bend region, there being provided a pin with at least
one retention element, said pin cooperating with an insu1ator
and insertable in the loop.
With the assembly accord;ng to the model, it is possible
to make the connection thereof directly to the insulator,
by separating the wires in the bend region, then adapting
the fitting pro~ection of the insulator between ~he
separated wires and passing the pin through the loop and
through the oper.ing in said projection, the retaining element
or elements assuring a safe attachment of the assembly.
The sonfig~ration and manner of fitting will now be
described in further detail, on the basis of execution
examples represented on the drawings. The figuras show: -
Figure 1 is a ~reformed 1DOP;
Figure 2 is a cross-section view of the bend of a
lool) with t.~o stems;
Figure 3 is a cross section view of the bend of a loop
with four stems;
Figure 3a is a view corresponding to the loop of figure 3,
the stems being ~eparated two by two; and
Figure 4 is a loop joining a power cable to an insulator,
according to the model.
As can be seen on figure 1, the loop 1 is composed of
various wires 4, for example of galvanized steel or aluminized
steel, united to ealch other by means of adhesi~e, resin or
any other means.-
For utilization in an assembly according to the model,the loop has the bend region free of the t~JiSt that characterizes
both legs 3.
Figure 2 illustrates only the bend region 2 of a loop
having t~lo wires 4, and figure 3 shows in an analogous manner
a bend region 2 of a loop with 4 wires.
Figure 3a illustrates the loop of figure 3, the wires 4
being separated two by two, forming an ;nterll~ediate space
wherein will be located the fitting projection 7 of an
insulator 6, as shown on figure 4.

As can be seen on the last ~igure, the utilization of
a connection e1ement of the kind initially referred to is no
longer necessary.-
Accordingly. start;ng from a loop 1 as illustrated onfigure 1, it suffices to separate the wire9- 4 in the bend
region 2 free from twisting, braid the legs 3 around the
power ca~les 5 (figure 4)~ introduce the fitting projection
7 of insulator S in the space formed between the separated
wire9 and, finally, to fit a round-head pin 8 - provided with
safety rings 9 and counter-pin 10 - through the loop (not
shown of projection 7.
A po~nted cap 11, provided with a vertex facing the
direction opposite the insulator 6 facilitates the fitting
of loop 1, as in this manner a separation of the two groups
of wires 4 is autnmatically obtained upon pressing of loop
1 against said cap 11.
In spite that a loop having an even number of wires
allows for a better distribution of forces in a better mech-
anical behaviour when attached to insulator, it is also
obviously possiDle to provide a loop having an odd number
of wires.
Accordingly, this apparently simple improvement
introduces enormous economic ~dvantages in the installation
of bverhead networks. since an integral part (that is, the
connection element) can be abolisheu WiL;lOUL~ however,
causing diff~culties to the installation operation, and
providing a very relia~le and safe attach~ent.
It must be understood that the invention is not limited
to the example described, but only by the claims set forth
hereinbelow.
