reservoir serving also as a main body of a hair-tonic
applicator and a scalp-patting brush; a valve unit having
a valve stem, mounted in a front opening of the reser-
voir, a front portion of which stem extends in a cavity
of a sleeve-like front shaft and being provided with
a flange-like stopper in its front end and a weight in
its part extending in the cavity, which weight is axially
movably mounted on the valve stem; and the sleeve-like
front shaft having the cavity in its middle portion,
a brush in its front portion and an engaging means in
its rear portion, through which engaging means the front
shaft is mounted on a front portion of the reservoir,
which brush is implanted in a brush-implantation hole
of the front shaft, which hole is communicated with a
communication hole so as to communicate the hole to the
cavity.

1 H~IR TONIC APPLIC~TION/SCALP P~TTING INSTRUMENT
B~CKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Field Or the Invention:
The present invention relates to an applica-tor
of a hair tonic, and more particularly to an instrument
for applying the hair tonic -to the scalp of a user and
patting the scalp as the hair tonic i5 applied.
Description o~ the Prior Art
As for a method for toning the scalp of the user
by patting his scalp, it is known to apply a hair -tonic
to the scalp of the user which is then massaged slightly
with the ends of fingers of the user and patted with
a scalp-patting brush to stimulate the scalp so as to
enhance the blood flow in the capillaries -thereof, whereby
hairs in the scalp are prevented from falling out and
dandrurf and excess sebum are removed from the scalp.
Hitherto, such application of the hair -tonic
and patting of the scalp are sequentially conducted by
-the use of separate instruments , i.e., a hair tonic appli-
2~ cator and a scalp-patting brush,~so -that the fingers . :
of the.user tend:to smudge with the hair -tonic when the
user massages his scalp after application of the hair
tonic. In th1s conventional~method, in order to prevent
a scalp-patting brush from being smudged, it is necessary
to conduct patting of the scalp with the brush a~ter

1 the hair tonic is removed from -the user's fingers. How-
ever, this is a very cumbersome worls.
SUMM~Y OE Tl-IE INVENTION
It is an object Or the present inven~ion -to re-
solve the above cumbersome work by providing a novel
instrument ror conducting hair-tonic application to the
scalp and patting of the scalp in an easy manner.
According to the present invention, there is
provided,
an instrument for conducting hair-tonic applica-
tion to the scalp and patting of the scalp, comprising:
a hair-tonic reservoir which also serves as a
main body Or a hair-tonic applicator and a scalp-patting
brush;
a valve unit having a valve s-tem, mounted in
a front opening portion Or said reservoir, a front portion
of said valve stem extending in a cavity of a sleeve-like
front shaft and being provided with a flange-like stopper
in its fron-t end and a weight in its part extending in
said cavity of said sleeve-like front shaft, said weight
being axially movably mounted on said valve stem; and
said sleeve-like front shaft having said cavity
in its middle portion, a brush in its front portion and
an engaging means in its rear portion, through said engag-
ing means said sleeve-like front shaft being mounted

~ 3~39~
1 on a front portion of said hair--tonic reservoir, said
brush being implanted in a brush-implantation hole Or
said sleeve-like front shaf-t, said brush-implantation
hole being communicated with said cavity of said sleeve-
like front shaft through a communication hole.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRA~INGS
Fig. 1 is a longitudinal sectional view of the
instrument for conducting hair-~onic application to the
user's scalp and patting of the scalp.
DESCRIPTION O~ TrlE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
In Fig. 1: the reference numeral 1 denotes a
hair-tonic reservoir which also serves as a main body
of a hair-tonic applicator and a scalp-patting instrument,
in a front opening portion of which reservoir 1 is mounted
a valve unit 6 comprising a valve seat 2, valve support
3, valve spring 4 and a valve stem 5.
A sleeve-like front shaft 13 is provided with
a cavity 9 while threadably moun-ted on a front-end portion
of the reservoir 1.
A front-end of the sleeve-lilse front shaft 13
constitutes a closed end in which a brush 12 is implan-ted
through a brush-implantation hole 11 Or the fron-t shaft
13. ~ rear end of the brush-implantation hole 11 is commu-
nicated with the cavity 9 of the front shaft 13 through
a communication hole 10 D~Ov ded 1~ the closed end of

~3g)392~
1 the front shaft 13.
The valve stem 5 of the valve unit 6 extends
into the cavity 9 of the front shaft 13, and is connected
with a flange-lilse stopper 7 in its rront end.
A short cylindrical weight 8, a length of which
is shorter than a distance between a rear surface of
the stopper 7 and a front surface of the spring support
3, is axially movably mounted on the valve stem 5 between
the stopper 7 and the spring support 3.
The valve spring 4 of the valve unit 6 is so
adjusted in its stiffness relative to the weight 8 that
the valve spring 4 sufficiently support the weight 8
except when the weight 8 travels at a cer-tain velocity.
In the instrument of the present invention for
conducting hair-tonic application and patting of the
scalp, patting operation thereof is conducted by the
brush 12 of the instrument. During the patting operation,
the instrument of the present invention is axially recip-
rocated. Through such reciprocating operation of the
instrument, the weight 8 is reciprocated on the valve
stem 5 between the rear surface of the stopper 7 and
the front surface of the spring support 3. When the weight
8 hits on the stopper 7, the valve stem 5 is moved rorward
against a resilient force exerted thereon by the valve
spring 4 so that the valve unit. 6 is opened to permit

1 a hair -tonic in the reservoir 1 to flow therefrom so
as to be fed to the brush 12 of the front shaf-t 13 through
-the cavity 9 of the front shaft 13 and the communication
hole 10 of -the same.
By the use of the instrument of the present inven-
tion, it is possible to conduct the hair-tonic application
and patting of the scalp by the use of a single instrumen-t
in an easy manner. Namely, in the instrument of the pre-
sent invention, the hair tonic is supplied to the user's
scalp when the user pats his scalp by the use of the
brush 12 of the instrument, which makes it possible to
conduct simultaneously the hair-tonic application and
the patting of the scalp.
