ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE
An improvement is provided in a sectional guide pipe for a
sheathed cable or for a tube through which a cable can be passed,
the guide pipe being constructed of a plurality of pipe sections
in which, at the connection points between the pipe sections, the
end of a first pipe section is slid into a cup-like, widened end
of a second pipe section. The improvement comprises a sheath of
a resilient material surrounding the periphery of the inserted
end of the first pipe section, and also covering the frontal face
of the inserted end of the first pipe section. This eliminates
all rattling noises including those caused by axial slippage of
the pipe sections against one another.

Revendications

THE EMBODIMENTS OF THE INVENTION IN WHICH AN EXCLUSIVE
PROPERTY OR PRIVILEGE IS CLAIMED ARE DEFINED AS FOLLOWS:
1. In a sectioned guide pipe for a sheathed cable or for a
tube through which a cable can be passed, said guide pipe being
constructed of a plurality of pipe sections in which, at the
connection points between said pipe sections, the end of a first
pipe section is slid into an outwardly flared, cup-like, widened
end of a second pipe section, the improvement comprising: a
sheath of a resilient material surrounding the periphery of the
inserted end of said first pipe section, and also covering the
frontal face of said inserted end of said first pipe section.
2. The improvement of claim 1 wherein said sheath is formed
of rubber.
3. The improvement of claims 1 or 2 wherein said inserted
end of said first pipe section is outwardly flared.

The present invention relates to a sectioned guide pipe
suitable for shielding a cable or a tube through which a cable
may be passed.
In such guide pipes, the connection point between individual
pipe sections comprises the end of a first pipe ~ection being
slid into a widened or distended end of a second pipe section.
-Such guide pipes are known in the art. The prior art has
also provided a method and means for preventing the first pipe
section from rattling inside the widened or distended end of the
second pipe section. Such means generally involved securing the
end of the irst pipe section inside an 0-ring or other suitable
element.
~ o~ever, securing of the pipe sections in this manner, only
;eli~inates those rattling noises caused when the pipes move at
right angles to the pipe axis. Should the individual pipe
sections be compressed in the axial direction, the striking of
the frontal face of the first pipe section against the base of
the cup~ e wiaening of the second pipe section will produce
rattling.
Accordingly an object of a principal aspect of this
invention is to provide a system serving to secure the end of the
first pipe section inside the widened or distenaed end of the
second pipe section, in such a manner as to eliminate all rat-
tling noises, including those caused by axial slippage of the
pipe sections against one another.

By one broad aspect of this invention, an improvement i8
provided in a sectional guide pipe for a ~heathed cable or for a
tube through which a cable can be pas~ed, the guide pipe being
constructed of a plurality of pipe sections in whiah, at the
connection points between said pipe sections, an end of a first
pipe section is slid into the cup-like, outwardly flared widened
end of a second pipe section, the improvement comprising: a
sheath of a resilient material surrounding the periphery of the
inserted end of the first pipe section, and also covering the
frontal face of the inserted end of the first pipe section.
The resilient material preferably is rubber. In addition,
it is preferred that the inserted end of the first pipe section
also be outwardly flared.
The accompanying drawing i8 a central longitudinal cross-
section of an embodiment of the present invention.
As seen in the drawing, a first pipe section is identified
by the number 1. A second pipe section, identified by the number
2, is provided with a terminal, cup-like, outwardly flared widen-
ing 2a, into which is inserted the outwardly flared, conically-
widened end la of the first pipe section l. Passed through pipe
sections l and 2 is a tube 3, through which a cable 4 can be slid
longitudinally. Tube 3 thus also serves as a sheathing for the
inside of the pipes l and 2.
The connection point between pipes l and 2 is held in place
by a union 5 which is itself supported with the aid of a securing
ring 6 in a rigid wall 7.

The end la of first pipe section 1 i8 covered by a re~ili-
ent, e.g. rubber, buffer 8 in such a way that the frontal face of
the end la of the pipe 1 is also covered by the buffer 8.
Because the end la of the pipe 1 is completely sheathed by the
buffer 8, any rattling noise produced by the relative movement of
the ends la and 2a of the pipes 1 and 2 respectively is
eliminated.
Buffer 8 can have many different configurations. It i8
necessary only that the pipe end be sheathed not only in the
radial direction, but also over the frontal face.
