ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE
A fixing device for ear ornaments is disclosed. A jewel
carrying plate and a clipping lug have, on their face applied
against the front and rear faces of the ear lobe, projecting
zones disposed so that they hold the ornament firmly on the
lobe by local compression. These projecting zones are
formed, for one of the fixing parts, of two zones offset in
height and, for the other fixing part, of a zone positioned
so as to be located between the zones when the plate and the
clipping lug are applied on each side of the lobe, so as to
hold the ornament firmly by local compressions on the lobe
while assuming the morphology of the latter.

said lug each having on their faces applied against the front
and rear faces of the ear lobe, projecting zones,
characterized in that the projecting zones are formed, for

Device for fixlng ear ornaments
The invention relates to a device for fixing ear
ornaments.
The object of the invention rslates to the technical
f i e 1 d o~ articles of jewellery of the clipped ear-ring
type.
Ear ornaments held in position o n the
lobe by clipping between a jewel-carrying plate and a
clipping lug with resil~ent con:nection with respect to the
plate, are not always efficient either because their
clipping system gets out of order in time or because the
: lobe of the ear has not the configuration making clipping
of the ornament reliable. ~ ~
To overcome these drawbacks and to provide reliable -
~: but non traumatic clipping in all circumstances, the
fixing device according to the invention has been
realized. :~
For that, and according to a first characteristic, . ~
: the jewel carrying plate and the clipping lug have, on ~ ;:
their face applied against the front and rear faces of the
lobe of the ear, projecting zones disposed so that, by local
compressions~they hold the ornament firmly on said lobe. ...
~:: According to another characteristio,~he~p~rojecting
zones are formed, for one of the fixing parts, of two
substantialIy hemispherical zones offset in height and; .
spaced apart in width ~and, for the other fixing partj of
an elongate zone with substantially semi-circular section
:: which: is positioned ~so as to be located~ between:~the~
:i ~hemispherical zones: when the plate and the clipping lug~
are applied on each side of the~lobe.
: Another characteristic resides in the faat that the.-
~two hemispherical projecting zonesare formed on~ the clipping :~
lug, whereas: the elongate pro~ecting zone is formed: on;the~
~ plate; said zones being ~positioned in the uppe.r~ part ~ ~ :
:~ ~ opposite the point of connection of the plate~;and~the~lug:.
According to other characteristics, the;~.proj`éc.ti~ng~:z`,on.q~
are; formed~directly on the plate and on the ~lug,~-or

they are added thereto and formed by semi-rigid or
flexible material elements.
These characteristics and others will be ~lear from
the following description.
To define the ob;ect of the invention, without
however limiting it, in the accompanying drawing
Figure 1 is a schematic view showing the principle
of the device according to the invention;
Figure 2 is a perspective view illustrating one
embodiment of the device;
Figure 3 is a top view corresponding to figure 2;
Figure 4 is a side view of the ornament applied to
an ear lobe;
Figure 5 is a sectional view consîdered along line
5-5 of figure 3 showing a modified embodiment of the
: pro jecting zones
Figure 6 is a sectional view through line 6-6 of
figure 3 showing another modification of the projecting zones.
In order to show the object of the invention more
concretely, it will now be described in a non limitative
way with reference to the embodiments shown in the figures
of the drawing.
The ear ornament P of this type comprises any kind~
of jewel B whose rear face Bl is formed so as to receive
.
by any means, such as bonding, soldering, brazing,
clipping, one of the fixing elements, namely a plate 1
whose visible face la is~intended to be applied against~
;j the rear face Ll~of the lobe of the ear L.
It should be noted that plate 1 may be limited to a
fixing surface in the upper part of the face~ Bl and~a
connecting surface with the other fixing element in the
lower part of the face Bl, as illustrated in `figure 4.
Furthermore, plate 1 may be directly formed by the face Bl
of the jewel.
In its lower part, plate 1 is connected;~ ~o~ a~
clipping lug~2,~generally ~by means of an~artlculation 3~

with resilient return of the lug against the plate for
nipping the lobe, without however excluding other
possibilities such as plate an~ lug in a single piece, the
lug being formed with a capacity of resilient deformation
5 at the lower ~onnectio~ with the plate.
According to one of the characteristics of the
invention, in order to ensure ~irm and reliable holding o
the ornament on ear lobes o any configuration, the plate
and the clipping lug preferably have in the upper part
opposite their point of connection, pro~ecting zOne5formed on
their face la and~2a for application on the faces L1-L2 of
the lobe.
These zones are dimensioned and disposed so that
they hold the ornament firmly by local compressions of the
lobe. For this, and as illustrated schematically in figure
. - .
l, two zones Zl and Z2 of substantially hemispherical ~ -
shape are formed on one of the elements (plate or lug) -~
offset in height and spaced apart in width, whereas a
third zone Z3 of elongate shape with substantially semi-
circular section is formed on the other element llug or
plate) in a position such that this zone is located
between zones Z1 and Z2 when the plate and the clipping -~-
. ., ~ .
lug are applied on each side of the lobe, thus creating
alternate deformations of the lobe, reinforcing fixing. ~-~
PreferabIy, zone Z3 is provided on plate 1 in the~
form of a bar or a deformation of material lb, and zones
Zl and Z2 are ~ormed ;on the lug 2 either~directly in the
thickness, as bosses 2b illustrated in figures 2, 3, 4~and -;~
6, or are added, as illustrated in figure 5 in which the~
30 pro;]ectin~s zonesare formed for e~ample by studs 4 made from a
semi-rigid or flexible material and shaped so as to be
engaged by deformation in orifices 2c o the lug and~be ~ -
retained between a~ shoulder 4a and the hemispherical
portion 4b blearing against the lobe.
Of course, the projecting zones may be formed in any
other equival-nt way without departing from tre ccop- of~
i

the invention.
In order to improve fixing, bosses 2b are further
pierced at 2d, as shown in figure 6, to create a
suction effect.
The advantages are clear from the description, the
ornaments thus formed being held firmly and reliably
because of the appropriately combined proJectlng zones which
create, by nipping, localized pads of flesh alternating
with depressions.
