ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE
A ski light is provided and consists of a housing
mounted to a ski. The housing has a front transparent
enclosure with a curved reflector therein and a lamp
mounted in the center of the reflector. An electrical
circuit within the housing is for illuminating the lamp.
This helps a skier find the ski when it disengages from
the foot of the skier, to warn other skiers of the
skiers presence and to help find the skier if disabled
and in need of assistance, especially during the
nighttime hours.

Revendications

THE EMBODIMENTS OF THE INVENTION IN WHICH AN EXCLUSIVE
PROPERTY OR PRIVILEGE IS CLAIMED ARE DEFINED AS FOLLOWS:
1. A ski light comprising:
a) a housing mounted to a ski with said
housing having a front transparent
enclosure;
b) a curved reflector mounted in said front
transparent enclosure of said
housing;
c) a lamp mounted in the center of said
reflector; and
d) means for illuminating said lamp to help a
skier find the ski when it disengages from
the foot of the skier, to warn other skiers
of the skiers presence and to help find the
skier if disabled and in need of
assistance, especially during the nighttime
hours,

2, A ski light as recited in Claim 1, wherein
said illuminating means includes an electrical
circuit within said housing having an on-off
switch on the back of said housing and at
least one battery connected to said lamp,
3. A ski light as recited in Claim 2, wherein
said front transparent enclosure of
said housing further includes a top
transparent access lid so that removal and
replacement of said lamp can be accomplished
when needed.
4. A ski light as recited in Claim 3, wherein
said housing further includes a side access
door so that removal and replacement of said
at least one battery can be accomplished when
needed.

5. A ski light as recited in Claim 4, further
including a hook and loop pile fastener
disposed between the bottom of said housing
and the top of the ski so that said housing
can be removably attached to a standard ski,
6. A ski light as recited in Claim 5, further
including:
a) an eyelet formed on the back of said
housing below said on-off switch; and
b) a lanyard looped through said eyelet and
engagable with the toe binding structure on
the ski so that if said housing is
disengaged from the ski by separation of
said hook and loop pile fastener said
lanyard will retain said housing of said
ski light thereby so that said lamp can
still be visually seen.

7. A ski light as recited in Claim 6, whereby
said top transparent access lid is a
magnifying lens to increase the visual
illumination of said lamp.
8. A ski light as recited in Claim 4, whereby the
bottom of said housing is permanently molded
to the top of the ski so that said housing
will never disengage from the ski.

would not be as suitable for the purposes of the present

~ki llght 10 conslstin~ of a hou~ln~ 12 mounted to a ski
14. The hou~in~ 12 has a front transparent triangular
se~ment 16. A curved reflectDr 18 i~ mounted in the
front transparent enclosure 16 of the housing 12 with a
lamp 20 mounted in the cen-ter of the reflector 18. An
electrical circuit 22 18 provided for llluminatln~ the
lamp 20 wlthln the hDusin~ 12 and has an on-off switch
24 on the back 26 of the houslng 12 and at least one
battery 28 connected to the lamp 20.
The skl llght 10 helps a skler find the ski 14 when

The front transparent enclosure 16 of the
hou~ing 12 further includes a top transparent acce~ lid
30 so that removal and replacement of -the lamp 20 can be
accompli~hed when needed. The hou~ln~ 12 ha~ a ~ide
access door 32 so that removal and replacement of the
battery 28 can be accompli~hed when needed.
As best seen in Flgure 2, a hook and loop pile
fastener 34, known a~ the trademark VELCR0 is di~po~ed
between the bottom 36 of the housing i2 and the top 38
of the ~ki so that the housing 12 can be removably
attached to a standard ski 14. An eyelet 40 is formed
on the back 26 of the houslng 12 below the on-off switch
24. A lanyard 42 is looped through the eyelet 40 and is
engagable with a toe bindlng structure 44 on the ~ki 14
so that lf the hou~ing 12 is di~enga~ed from the 6ki 14
by ~eparation of the hook and loop pile fastener 34 the
lan~ard 42 will retain the hou~lng 12 of the ski llght
10 thereby so that the lamp 20 can 6till be vlsually
seen.

The transparent hcces~ lid 30 can ~e a ma~nifylng
lens 46 to increase the visual illumination of the la~p
20. As sh~wn in Figure 5, the botto~ 36 of housing 12
can be permanently molded to the top 38 of -the ski 14 so
