ABSTRACT
A trophy display system includes a trophy base
with a fastener attached to a top surface of the base and
a display figure with a second fastener component attached
to a bottom surface of the figure. The two fastener
components are preferably a hook and loop pile fastener
material such as that sold under the trade mark "Velcro"
so that the display figure can easily be attached to and
removed from the trophy base. Particularly suitable
display figures are baseballs, hockey pucks and the like
which can be taken to the site of a sporting activity for
autograghing by a player.

figures, each second fastening component being directly
and releasable engageable with each first fastening
component.
3. A trophy display system as described in
Claim 1 or 2 in which first and second fastening
components are components of a hook and loop pile
fabric fastener system.
4. A trophy display system as described in
Claim 1 or 2 in which the first and second fastening
components are magnetically engageable.
5. A trophy display system as described in
Claim 1 or 2, in which the detachable display figure is
a sporting projectile.
6. A trophy display system as described in
Claim 1 or 2, in which the detachable display figure is
a baseball.
7. A trophy display system as described in
Claim 1 or 2 in which the detachable display figure is
a hockey puck.
8. A trophy display system as described in
Claim 1 or 2 in which the detachable display figure is
a sporting object.

TROPHY DISP AY SYSTEM
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
This invention relates to the field of
trophies and to the means for mounting and display of
figures on trophy bases.
. . .
~ACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Trophy displays of the type in question are
comprised of two main parts, a base and a display
figure.
These are usually attached by the manufactur-
er or vendor using any one of a number of different
attachment mechanisms.
The present invention is concerned with a
novel trophy system providing the vendor or trophy
owner with considerable flexibility in the assembly and
use of trophy displays.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
According to the present invention there is
provided a trophy display system comprised of a trophy
base, a first fastening component attached to a top
surface of the base, a display figure and a second
fastening component attached to a bottom surface o-E the
figure, and the second fastening component being

releasably engagable with the first component to secure
the figure on the base.
The fastening components used in the
preferred embodiment of the system are the components
of a hook and loop pile fabric fastener of the type
sold under the trade mark "VELCRO~".
The display figure is easily attached or
removed by hand, without the requirement of physical
modification of the component parts for special fitting
equipment. There are no screws, bolts, pins or the
like. The system is quite simple, easy to use, and
lightweight, with parts easily interchanged.
The display figure can be an actual sporting
object like a baseball, hockey puck or golf ball, or a
scale design of a larger item such as a basketball,
football, baseball bat, boxing gloves or hockey stick.
The present invention is ideal for the autograph
hunting sports fan in that he or she need only take a
figure, e.g., an actual baseball or hockey puck to a
sports area to be autographed. It is also ideal for
changing display figures throughout the year as the
display is quickly and simply interchanged with
another.

DESCRIPTION OF TH~ DRAWINGS
In drawings which illustrate exemplary
embodiments of the invention,
Figure 1 is a front view of on~ embodiment of
the trophy with the base and display figure in the
unattached position.
Figure 2 is a front view of the embodiment
described in Figure 1 with the base and display figure
in the attached position.
Figure 3 shows a front view of an alternative
display figure in the attached position to the same
base as shown in Figure 1.
Figure 4 is a front view of the same display
figure as in Figure 3 as attached as a display figure
to a different base.
Figure 5 is a front view of ~he display
figure of Figures 1 and 2 attached to the same base as
shown in Figure 4.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
An ice hockey puck , which is a thick disk of
hard rubber, acts as a display figure 10 in Figures 1
and 2. In the drawings the disk is shown as having a
team logo 12. Fastened on the puck edge 14 is a wooden
pedestal or display base 16, with a flat bottom 18 a

boss 20 on the top, a plaque 22 on the front, and a
fastener component 24 holding the disk to the base at
~6.
The fastener component 24 is engageable face
to face to hold with a second fastener component 28 to
hold the figure 10 in place as shown in Figure 2. In
this particular embodiment, the fastener is the hook
and loop pile fabric fastener system of the type sold
under the trade mark "Velcro~".
Figures 3, 4 and 5 show alternative bases and
display figures that may be interchanged with the
components detailed in Figures 1 and 2. Figure 3, for
example, illustrates display figure consisting of a
baseball 30 with an attached fastener component 32
secured to the base 32, Figure 4 illustrates the base-
ball 30 on a different base 34, and Figure 5 illu-
strates the hockey puck 10 on the same base 34 shown in
Figure 4. Upon either the base or the display figure
could be a team logo 23 or a means for receiving an
autograph 30. Other sporting projectiles such as
packs, baseballs or tennis balls, or sporting objects
such as bats, sticks or boxing gloves may be used as
display figures in this system. The display figures
may be interchanged and the bases may be interchanged

to achieve the desired match. The removeability of the
figure allows the figure to be taken to a ball park,
arena, etc., for a favorite player's autograph, to be
brought home and mounted on the base with the player's
team logo.
From the vendor's point of view the inter-
changeability feature provides both a wide selection
for the customer and a reduced inventory.
The detachability of figures from the base
may also be accomplished by the use of magnets or other
face-to-face manually engageable fastening components
in place of the hook and loop pile fabric fastener~
The present invention is not limited to the
embodiments described and the right is reserved to make
variations in the invention that do not depart from the
sphere and scope of the invention as hereinafter
defined by the appended claims.
