The embodiment of the invention in which an exclusive property
or privilege is claimed are defined as follows:
1. A screw comprising a shank and a head formed to a first
end thereof, said shank having a threaded portion defined in
an outer periphery thereof, said threaded-portion having in
at least one section thereof a plurality of radially defined
cutting teeth.
2. The screw as claimed in claim 1 wherein a second end of
said shank is a sharp end.

3 1. Field of the Invention
4 The present invention relates to a screw and more
particularly, to an improved screw which has a shanh aLld a
6 head formed to a first end thereof and a tip portion formed
7 to a second thereof, a threaded portion defined in an outer
8 periphery of the shank and the threaded portion including a
9 plurality of cutting teeth formed therein.
2. Brief Description of the Prior Art
11 A conventional screw is composed of a shank and a head
12 which is formed to one end of the shank and the other end of
13 the shank is a sharp end so as to penetrate into an object to
14 receive the screw. The shank has a threaded portion defined
in an outer periphery thereof such that when the screw is
16 screwed into the object, the threaded portion is tightly
17 engaged with the material of the object and this causes an
18 advancing of the screw in the object. Accordingly, as the
19 screw penetrates the object, thereby encountering increasing
surface contact with the object, an operator must use more
21 force to screw the screw such that the screw can be
22 completely screwed into the object.
23 The present invention intends to provide an improved
24 screw in which the threaded portion has cutting teeth formed
thereto so as to facilitate the screwing of the screw to
26 mitigate and/or obviate the above-mentioned problems.

28 The present invention provides a screw which includes

23Referring to the drawings and initially to Figs. 1
24through 3, a screw in accordance with the present invention
25generally includes a shank 10 and a head 12 formed to a first
26end thereof and a second end of the shank 10 is a sharp end
2711. The shank 10 has a threaded portion 20 defined in an
28outer periphery thereof, the threaded portion 20 having in a

1 lower section thereof a plurality of radially defined cutting
2 teeth 22 defined radially therein.
3 Referring now to Fig. 4, the cutting teeth 22 cut into
4 a piece of wood 3 0 into which the screw is screwed.
Theref~re, whe~ an operator (not shown) screws the screw, the
6 cutting teeth 22 will effectively cut the piece of wood 30 to
7 facilitate the screw to be screwed into the piece of wood 30
8 and the threaded portion 20 without cutting teeth 22 is
g tightly engaged with the wood 30 such that the screw can be
easily screwed into the piece of wood 3 0 and is securely
11 engaged to the wood 3 0 .
12 Accordingly, the screw provides an effective feature
13 when being screwed into the piece of wood 3 0, the
14 configuration or the arrangement of the cutting teeth can be
designed to meet requirements according to different
16 situations.
17 Although the invention has been explained in relation
18 to its preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that many
19 other possible modifications and variations can be made
without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention
21 as hereinafter claimed.
