Attachment for a formwork and formwork having an attachment
The invention relates to an attachment in the form of a
heating cartridge for heating a panel formwork element,
wherein the heating cartridge can be connected to the panel
formwork element in a reversibly releasable manner and has a
heating device for producing heat. The invention further
relates to a formwork having a panel formwork element and
such an attachment.
It is known to use heated formworks for casting a member from
in-situ concrete, for example, for casting a concrete wall or
a concrete column. The heated formworks enable the production
of a member of in-situ concrete at low temperatures, in
particular in the case of frost.
For example, it has become known from DD 32 711 A3 to use a
heatable formwork element having an electrically heatable
vapour production chamber for shuttering a concrete wall
which is intended to be produced. The vapour production
chamber is in this instance integrated in the formwork
element, that is to say, connected to the formwork element in
a non-releasable manner. It is thereby not possible to use
the formwork element in warm weather without the vapour
production chamber.
Furthermore, DE 196 04 835 Al discloses a device for sealing
channel walls. The device comprises a resiliently expandable
cover on which electrical radiant heaters are arranged. The
radiant heaters may be constructed in the form of
incandescent bulbs. However, the disadvantage of this device
is that it always has to be used or transported and
constructed together with the electrical radiant heaters.

CA 02973046 2017-07-05
- 2 -
DE 2 061 394 A discloses a formwork for use in the processing
of in-situ concrete. The formwork comprises a formwork
element with resistance heating wires which are incorporated
in the formwork element. The resistance heating wires also
have to be transported and constructed with the formwork
element during operation in warm weather.
CA 1 158 119 A discloses a portable heater for curing freshly
cast members of in-situ concrete. In this instance, a fluid
is heated in the heater and guided around the member in
flexible tubes. The heating of a formwork is not disclosed in
CA 1 158 119 A.
Finally, it has become known from JP 2008095434 A to arrange
an electrical heater on a steel formwork in a reversibly
releasable manner by means of a magnetic connection. The
steel formwork can also consequently be used during warm
weather operation without the electrical heater. As a result
of the completely plate-like construction of the heater and -
the planar magnetic connection, the known heater is
relatively heavy, whereby the heater can be transported only
with difficulty. Furthermore, the magnetic connection between
the heater and steel formwork can be released only in a
complex manner.
The invention accordingly addresses the problem, both at high
and at low external temperatures, with at the same time easy
transport and simple handling of a formwork, of enabling the
casting of a member from in-situ concrete.
An object of the present invention is therefore to provide a
heating cartridge which can be both readily transported and

CA 02973046 2017-07-05
- 3 -
assembled in a simple manner on a panel formwork element or
can be readily disassembled therefrom.
This object is achieved according to the invention by a
heating cartridge having the features of patent claim 1. The
dependent patent claims set out advantageous developments.
The object according to the invention is consequently
achieved by a heating cartridge for heating a panel formwork
element, wherein the heating cartridge can be connected to
the panel formwork element in a reversibly releasable manner
and has a heating device for producing heat and wherein the
heating cartridge has a first portion of a mechanical
connection device for assembling the heating cartridge on the
panel formwork element.
According to the invention, the heating cartridge can
accordingly be connected to the panel formwork element in a
reversibly releasable manner by means of a mechanical
connection device. The heating cartridge has a first portion
of the mechanical connection device and the panel formwork
element has a second portion of the mechanical connection
device. In this instance, there is preferably used as a
second portion of the mechanical connection device an element
which is in any case already provided on the panel formwork
element. It is thus also possible for a panel formwork
element which is already provided to be retrofitted with a
heating cartridge.
The mechanical connection device is preferably not based on a
magnetic connection. The mechanical connection device is in
particular constructed in a non-magnetic manner.

CA 02973046 2017-07-05
- 4 -
The mechanical connection device may in this instance be
constructed in the form of a tongue and groove connection.
Furthermore, the mechanical connection device may be
constructed in the form of a hook and loop connection. The
first portion of the mechanical connection device may be
constructed in the form of a first projection, which engages
behind a second portion of the mechanical connection device
in the form of a second projection. The mechanical connection
device enables rapid and simple assembly of the heating
cartridge on the panel formwork element and a rapid and
simple disassembly of the heating cartridge from the panel
formwork element. At the same time, the mechanical connection
device leads to a continuous and reliable connection between
the heating cartridge and panel formwork element. At high
outside temperatures, the assembly of the heating cartridge
can be dispensed with in this case. The transport and
assembly of the heating cartridge are consequently only
actually involved in the event of low temperatures or frost.
In a particularly preferred manner, the first portion of the
mechanical connection device has a screw through-recess for
receiving a screw of the panel formwork element.
Alternatively or additionally, the first portion of the
mechanical connection device preferably has a screw for
securing the heating cartridge to a screw through-recess of
the panel formwork element. The screw is in this instance
rotatably arranged on the heating cartridge.
The weight of the heating cartridge is further reduced and
the handling thereof facilitated when the heating device has
an electrical heating element. The electrical heating element
may have a heating wire. The electrical heating element is
preferably constructed in the form of a heating mat.

CA 02973046 2017-07-05
- 5 -
Particularly low weight and high stability of the heating
element are achieved when the heating mat has heating wires
which are interwoven with each other.
The heating cartridge according to the invention preferably
has a frame which leads to a structurally simple and light
construction of the heating cartridge. Simple manoeuvrability
and low weight contribute significantly to facilitating the
construction and deconstruction and transport of the formwork.
In a further preferred manner, the heating device is retained
in the frame by means of a resilient element of the heating
cartridge. The heating device may in this instance be
stretched in the frame. The heating device is thereby
constructed in a light manner and a high degree of efficiency
of the stretched heating device is achieved.
In a particularly preferred embodiment of the invention, the
frame has a rectangular basic shape. A plurality of heating
cartridges may in this instance be arranged beside each other
in a simple and gap-free manner.
The frame is preferably constructed from metal, in particular
from steel. Furthermore, the frame may have a support strut.
A high level of strength of the frame with low weight is
thereby achieved.
In a particularly preferred embodiment of the heating
cartridge, the frame through-recess which is delimited by the
frame is at least partially closed by means of insulation.
The frame through-recess is in this instance intended to be
understood to be the opening of the frame delimited by the
frame. The insulation is preferably constructed in a plate-

CA 02973046 2017-07-05
- 6 -
like manner. The insulation may, for example, be constructed
in the form of a polystyrene plate. Preferably, the
insulation is constructed in the form of a polyurethane plate.
The insulation increases the heat discharge of the heating
device to the formwork element.
Preferably, the insulation is arranged with spacing from the
heating device. In a particularly preferred manner, a first
air gap is located between the insulation and the heating
device in this case. In a further preferred manner, the frame
is constructed in such a manner that a second air gap is
located between the heating device and the formwork element
which is arranged on the heating cartridge.
The heating cartridge may further have a plate in the region
of the side of the insulation facing away from the heating
device in order to protect the insulation. The plate is
preferably constructed in the form of a metal plate.
The heating cartridge may have a projection and/or a recess
for securing an accessory, wherein the projection and/or the
recess is/are accessible from an outer side of the heating
cartridge, in particular in the uncovered state. The
projection may in this instance be constructed in the form of
a strut. Various structures or attachments, such as push-pull
props or concreting platforms, may be provided as an
accessory. The heating cartridge deliberately does not in
this instance have any openings in order to secure an
accessory directly to the panel formwork element since such
an opening would lead to heat loss.
In a particularly preferred manner, the heating cartridge has
a formwork anchor through-recess for introducing a formwork

CA 02973046 2017-07-05
- 7 -
anchor. In a further preferred manner, the heating element
has in an edge region a recess for receiving a shuttering
lock in order to connect a plurality of identical panel
formwork elements having heating elements to each other.
In a further preferred embodiment of the heating element, the
heating element has an in particular angled support foot with
a stop face for the end side of the panel formwork element.
The stop face serves in this instance to orientate the
heating cartridge on the panel formwork element.
The object according to the invention is further achieved by
a formwork for producing a member from in-situ concrete,
wherein the formwork has a panel formwork element and a
heating cartridge which is arranged on the panel formwork
element and which has been described above, and wherein the
panel formwork element has the second portion of the
mechanical connection device which is connected to the first
portion of the mechanical connection device on the heating
cartridge.
The second portion of the mechanical connection device
preferably has a screw through-recess for receiving the first
portion of the mechanical connection device in the form of a
screw and/or a screw for introducing through the first
portion of the mechanical connection device in the form of a
screw through-recess. The screw may in this instance be
rotatably arranged on the panel formwork element.
The mechanical connection device may consequently have a
screw through-recess on the heating cartridge and a screw
which is guided through the screw through-recess on the panel
formwork element and/or the mechanical connection device may

CA 02973046 2017-07-05
- 8 -
have a screw through-recess on the panel formwork element and
a screw which is guided through the screw through-recess on
the heating cartridge.
In a particularly preferred manner, the heating cartridge has
a flap in which there is constructed a flap through-recess
which is in alignment with a screw through-recess in a panel
formwork frame of the panel formwork element.
The panel formwork element preferably has a through-recess
for introducing a formwork anchor which is in alignment with
the formwork anchor through-recess of the heating cartridge.
The through-recess is in this instance in particular
constructed to be perpendicular with respect to a formwork
shell of the panel formwork element.
The formwork may have a voltage source which is arranged in a
housing, wherein the housing is connected to the heating
cartridge in a reversibly releasable manner. The voltage
source preferably has a plurality of electrical outputs for
supplying a plurality of heating cartridges. The voltage
source may in this instance be constructed in the form of a
terminal box. The formwork may further have a control for
controlling or regulating the temperature of the heating
element. The control may be arranged in the housing. In a
particularly preferred manner, a central control for a
plurality of heating cartridges is arranged in the housing.
Other features and advantages of the invention will be
appreciated from the following detailed description of an
embodiment of the invention, with reference to the Figures of
the drawings which show details which are significant to the
invention and from the patent claims.

cartridge 10. As a result of the frame 12, the heating
cartridge 10 is particularly light and can be readily
transported. In order to protect the heating cartridge 10, it
is lined with a plurality of plates 14 of which, for reasons
of clarity in Figure 1, only one of the plates 14 is provided
with a reference numeral. The plates 14 are preferably
constructed from metal, in particular from sheet zinc.
Figure 2 shows the heating cartridge 10 in an opposite view
in comparison with Figure 1. Figure 2 shows that the frame 12
has for further stabilisation support struts 16, of which,
for reasons of clarity, in Figure 2 only one of the support
struts 16 is provided with a reference numeral. The support
struts 16 are preferably constructed from metal.
In the frame 12, a heating device 18 in the form of a
plurality of heating elements is clamped. The heating
elements are constructed in the form of heating mats. The
heating mats have a sheet-like substrate on which at least
one heating wire is arranged. The heating elements are
clamped by means of resilient elements 20 indirectly - in
particular by means of support struts 16 - or directly in the
frame 12. For reasons of clarity, in Figure 2 only one of the
resilient elements 20 is provided with a reference numeral.
Figure 3 shows a panel formwork element 22. The panel
formwork element 22 has a panel formwork frame 24. The panel
formwork frame 24 is constructed in a rectangular manner and
has the same width B and height H as the frame 12 (see Figure
1). The frame 12 (see Figure 1) may therefore be placed in a
flush manner on the panel formwork frame 24.

CA 02973046 2017-07-05
- 11 -
The panel formwork element 22 has formwork support struts of
which, for reasons of clarity, in Figure 3 only two formwork
struts 26a which extend in the longitudinal direction
(longitudinal struts) and two formwork struts 26b which
extend in the transverse direction (transverse struts) are
provided with a reference numeral. The formwork support
struts 26a, 26b are - in the same manner as the panel
formwork frame 24 - constructed from metal and reinforce the
panel formwork frame 24. Furthermore, the formwork support
struts 26a, 26b serve to support a formwork shell 28. The
formwork shell 28 preferably has a coated formwork shell body
of wood and/or plastics material. In a particularly preferred
manner, the formwork shell 28 is constructed from non-
magnetic materials in order to keep the weight of the panel
formwork element 22 low.
The formwork support struts 26a, 26b have through-recesses 30
for introducing a formwork anchor (not shown) in each case.
In warm weather, the panel formwork element 22 may be used
without the heating cartridge 10 (see Figure 1).
Figure 4 shows the placement of the heating cartridge 10 on
the panel formwork element 22. The heating cartridge 10 has
in this instance for connection to the panel formwork element
22 a first portion 32 of a mechanical connection device 34.
The first portion 32 has flaps 36 in which flap through-
recesses 38 are constructed. The panel formwork element 22
has a second portion 40 of the mechanical connection device
34. The second portion 40 has screw through-recesses 42 which
in the assembled state of the heating cartridge 10 on the
panel formwork element 22 are in alignment with the flap
through-recesses 38. Figure 4 shows in this instance only a

portion of the mechanical connection device 34. Additional
flaps and through-recesses are provided at the remote side of
the heating element 10 and the panel formwork element 22 in
Figure 4.
Figure 5 shows a formwork 44 with the heating cartridge 10
placed on the panel formwork element 22. Figure 5 shows that
the heating cartridge 10 has a support foot 46. The support
foot 46 provides a stop face 48 for the abutment of the panel
formwork frame 24 (cf. Figure 4). The support foot 46 is
preferably constructed from.metal and securely connected to
the frame 12 of the heating cartridge 10. The support foot 46
has support foot through-recesses 50 for securing the heating
cartridge 10 to the panel formwork element 22. The support
foot through-recesses 50 are associated with the first
portion 32 of the mechanical connection device 34 (see Figure
4). In order to facilitate the assembly of the formwork 44,
it is placed on wooden beams 52. When arranging a plurality
of formworks 44 one above the other, a support foot is
provided only on the lowest formwork(s) which stand(s) on the
base. A heating cartridge which is arranged above the lowest
formwork has in contrast no support foot.
Figure 6 shows the formwork 44 during the securing of the
heating cartridge 10 on the panel formwork element 22. To
this end, the formwork 44 has screws 54. The screws 54 are in
each case guided through the support foot through-recess 50
or the screw through-recess 42 and the flap through-recess 38
(see Figure 4). The screws 54 are a portion of the first
portion 32 of the mechanical connection device 34 (see Figure
4). The mechanical securing of the heating cartridge 10 on
the panel formwork element 22 is carried out in the region of

CA 02973046 2017-07-05
- 13 -
all four corners of the frame 12 which face outwards in the
main frame plane.
Figure 7 shows the formwork 44 with push-pull props 56 which
are secured to the heating cartridge 10. Furthermore, a
concreting platform 58 is secured to the heating cartridge 10.
Figure 8 shows the formwork 44 according to Figure 7 in the
erected state. Figure 8 shows that the heating cartridge 10
has formwork anchor through-recesses 60. The formwork anchor
through-recesses 60 are in alignment with the through-
recesses 30 (see Figure 3).
It can further be seen in Figure 8 that the heating cartridge
has recesses 62 of which, for reasons of clarity, in
Figure 8 only one recess 62 is provided with a reference
numeral. The recesses 62 serve in each case to secure a
shuttering lock (not shown) for connection of a plurality of
formworks 44. The formwork 44 further has projections 64, of
which for reasons of clarity in Figure 8 only one projection
64 is provided with a reference numeral. The projections 64
serve to secure additional formwork portions (not shown).
Figure 9 is a side view of the formwork 44 according to
Figure 8. Figure 9 shows that the heating cartridge 10 in the
assembled and erected state is supported at the lower end by
means of the support foot 46.
In Figure 9, the frame 12 (cf. Figure 1) of the heating
cartridge 10 is not illustrated in order to clarify the
construction of the heating cartridge 10. Figure 9 thereby
shows that in the assembled state of the formwork 44 the
heating device 18 is arranged between an insulation 66 and

CA 02973046 2017-07-05
- 14 -
the panel formwork frame 24. The heating device 18 extends
parallel with the insulation 66. The insulation 66 is
preferably constructed in the form of a polyurethane plate.
Figure 10 shows an arrangement of a plurality of mutually
opposed formworks 44. Shuttering locks for connecting the
formworks 44 are not illustrated in Figure 10. Figure 10
shows that a formwork 44 has a housing 68 which contains a
voltage source (not visible). The housing 68 is secured to
the heating cartridge 10 in a reversibly releasable manner,
in particular attached. The voltage supply preferably has a
terminal box to which a plurality of cables 70 can be
connected or are connected in such a manner that the voltage
supply can supply a plurality of heating cartridges 20 with
voltage. The cables 70 shown in Figure 10 supply voltage
inputs 72 of the heating cartridges 10. In order to protect
the housing 68, the heating cartridge 10 has a roof 74. At
each side of the wall which is intended to be concreted, a
housing with a voltage supply is provided.
In summary, the invention relates to a heating in the form of
a heating cartridge for a panel formwork element of a
formwork. The heating cartridge has a heating device and can
be mechanically connected to the panel formwork element. The
mechanical connection device comprises a first portion which
is arranged or formed on the heating cartridge and a second
portion which is arranged or formed on the panel formwork
element. The mechanical connection device may in particular
be constructed in the form of a screw connection, a tongue
and groove connection, a hook and loop connection, a clamping
connection or a wedge connection. Preferably, the heating
cartridge has a frame in the frame through-recess of which
the heating device is at least partially arranged. The first
