A B S T R A C T
This invention is a toy which seats a child for
the purpose of sliding down a hill or any other slopes,
particularly when it is snow or ice covered. The toy is dough-
nut shaped, made of rubber or similar material, is inflatable,
and is provided with a centrally located seating area which
encloses the entire central hole of the doughnut, so that it
acts as a seat on either side of the toy. Two oppositely
located handles are attached to the rim of the toy at a con-
venient location near a center line. The toy is made in
several sizes to accommodate children of various ages and sizes.

Revendications

The embodiments of the invention in which an exclu-
sive property or privilege is claimed are defined as follows:-

1. A circular -shaped inflatable toy used for sitting
thereon and sliding down inclined surfaces; having, in combina-
tion, identical top and bottom surfaces, so that it can be sat
upon on either side thereof; said toy being made of rubber or
any other inflatable material, and having an outer doughnut -
shaped ring; a centrally located seat area, on each side of
said toy, formed by two flat, spaced, parallel areas, exten-
ding from the inner central circumference of said outer ring,
so that the space within the outer ring and the space between
the two surfaces of the seat can be inflated at the same time,
as a single unit; a thickened area in the outer wall of said
doughnut shaped ring, to prevent blowouts when the toy acciden-
tally strikes a sharp,hard object while in motion; with a pair
of handles, attached to the toy and oppositely located on the
central outer circumference of the outer ring; and a valve,
suitably located in the rim of the toy, by means of which it
can be inflated.

This invention consists of a toy for sliding down
inclined surfaces, particularly when they are snow or ice
covered. This form of play is very popular with children of
all ages, and outside of the regular type of toboggan which is
used mostly by adults, there is usually no toy of this nature
available on the market which is safe for use by children.As
a result many children of all ages improvise means for sliding
down hillsides, such as using cardboard boxes, sheets of tin,
or garbage can covers; and at times they may even slide upon
the clothing they wear. ~y using these improvisations, the
children are obviously exposed to a great deal of danger.
It is therefore the primary object of this invention
to provide a toy which can be used as a means for sliding
down slippery inclined surfaces and in which the risk of being
hurt has been almost entirely eliminated or considerably reduced.
Another object of the invention is to provide atoy
such as described above which can be easily handled by young
children, and which can be collapsed into a smaller form for
storage or carrying purposes.

As seen from the drawings, the gliding toy is made
in the form of a doughnut with an outer heavy ring 1, having
a circular cross-section. In the central opening of the ring l,
is located a central seat which is formed by two spaced flat

circular areas 2 and 3 which are extensions from the inside
3 perimeter of the outer ring l. The space between the plates
2 and 3 communicate with the space in the ring 1, so that the

entire unit can be inflated through one valve 5.
Two oppositely located handles 4,4, are provided
on or near the center of the outer ring, for steadying the
toy during the sliding operation, and for carrying purposes.
As an additional safety factor, the outer rim of the
ring l, is thickened as shown by 6 in Figure 2. This provides
security during accidental bumping against fixed hard objects
and against puncture of the toy when coming in contact with

sharp or pointed objects.
The sliding toy can be inflated through the valve 5,
which may consist of a tube in the wall of the toy through which
air can be blown by mouth, bicycle pump, or any other compressed
air supply source; and the air can be retained inside the toy
in the usual manner by means of a plug or a tie, or by
having the valve 5, made long enough so that itself can be tied
into an air tight knot.
It is intended to make the toy in several sizes, by
varying the overall diameter of the toy, for the purpose of
accommodating a large variety of children~ ~ize~.
