LIQUID HAIR COSMETIC APPLICATOR
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to an instrument for
applying a liquid hair cosmetic such as a hair dye liquor, or
the like, provided with a freely attachable and detachable comb
body.
Prior Art
- Heretofore, there are prior-known hair dyeing
instruments provided with a freely attachable and detachable
comb dody, but in these dyeing instruments, it is designed that
in the case where the comb body is detached, the teeth portion
of the comb body is drawn out by picking up between the
fingertips.
In the above described conventional hair dyeing
instruments it was found to be troublesome in that since in the
case where the comb body is detached, the hair dye liquor, or
the like, adhered to the teeth portion of the comb body sticks
to the fingertips, the fingertips must be washed. Furthermore,
there were also problems such that when the teeth portion is
put between the fingers the teeth break, or the teeth portion
cannot easily be drawn out because of their bending, and so on.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The object of the present invention is to provide a
liquid hair cosmetic applicator comprising a comb body mounted
in a freely attachable and detachable manner to a front shaft
protrusively provided with an applying member comprising a
brush and others, and a teeth portion of the comb body being

arranged parallel to said applying member, characterized in
that on the outer surface of a portion of the comb body
engaging with the front shaft there are provided protruding
ribs lying in the direction substantially perpendicular to the
direction drawing the comb body out of the front shaft.
In a liquid hair cosmetic applicator according to the
present invention, hair dye li~uor or the like never adheres to
the fingertips, and there are found no bad effects such as the
breakage of the teeth of the comb body, etc.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION AND THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
With reference to the drawing the example of the
present invention will be explained below.
The outer shaft 1 has a front shaft 2 screwed onto the
front end thereof, and in the interior of said front shaft 2 is
fixed the basal part 4 of the applying member on which a brush
, 3 has been planted. In the central hole of said basal part 4

is fitted a liquid impregnated body 5 such as sponge, etc.
which comes in contact with the brush 3, and at the rear of the
basal part 4 is fixed a liquid delivery tube 7 with the stopper
6 for the liquid impregnated body being disposed therebetween.
At the front end 2a of the front shaft 2 is mounted a comb body
8. The inner shaft 9 within which a liquid hair cosmetic (not
shown in the figure) such as a hair dye liquor has been
contained is housed in the interior of the outer shaft 1 so
that it can be freely shifted in the axial direction, with a
valve 10 being provided in the opening at the front of said
inner shaft 9. Said valve 10 comprises a stem 1!, a valve seat
12, a valve spring 13, and a spring bearing 14. Onto the outer
peripheral portion of the front end of said inner shaft 9 is
screwed a cap 17 which has packing 15 fixed therein. The rear
end of the above described liquid delivery tube 7 is inserted
through the central hole of said cap 16 in a state coming in
watertight contact with the packing 15, whereby said rear-end
of the liquid delivery tube 7 abuts against the front end of
the valve stem 11. On the outer peripheral portion at the rear
end of said inner shaft 9 is slipped the knock shaft 17, and it
is designed in such a way that if the knock shaft 17 is engaged
with a groove 18 provided in the axial direction of said inner
shaft 9 when the knock shaft 17 is given a rotating operation,
said inner shaft 9 also can rotate integrally with the knock
shaft. Further, in the opening at the rear end of said outer
shaft 1 is fitted by pressing a breechblock 19 which prevents
said inner shaft 9 from slipping rearward. The head portion 20
at a position somewhat behind the cap 16 in said inner shaft 9

has a flat surface on both sides, thus the cross-section along
the direction perpendicular to the axial line being almost of
the shape of a "koban" (a Jaspanese gold coin used in former
times). On the inner surface of the outer shaft 1 is
protrusively formed a controling wall 22 having a through hole .
21 whose cross-section is almost simlar to, but slightly larger
than, that of the above described head portion 20 of the inner
shaft 9 in shape, and together with this there is also formed a
stopper 24 having ribs 23 which have been protrusively formed
similarly on the inner surface in the direction of from one end ;

~ of the edge of said controling wall 22 to the back, said -

-- stopper 24 being fixed on the inner surface of the outer shaft
- -~ 1 so that said controling wall 22 can be situated in front of
the head portion 20 of the inner shaft 9 which is in an :~
;~ unknocked sate. :
When the inner shaft 9 is rotated integrally with the
: knock shaft 17 by giving a rotating operation to said knock
shaft 17 so that the contour of the head portion 20 of the .
~ inner shaft 9 can enter the contour of the through hole 21 of
~ - the controling wall 22, if the knock shaft 17 is pressed
: forward, the head portion 20 passes through the through hole 21
allowing the inner shaft 9 to advance, but as the valve stem ll
., - - abutting against the liquid delivery tube 7 cannot advance, it
results that the valve stem ll retreats relative to the valve
seat 12, and thus the valve 10 is opened rendering it possible
that the liquid hair cosmetic discharged from the inner shaft 9
;~ is supplied to the brush 3 by passing through the liquid
~ delivery tube 7 and liquid impregnated body 5. Furthermore, in

the case where the inner shaft 9 has been rotated, it is
contemplated that the positioning may be made so that the
contour of the head portion 20 can just fit in the contour of
the through hole 21 in such a state that the stepped portions
(not shown in the figure) provided at the end positions of the
flat portions of the side faces of the head portion 20 are
engaged with the above described ribs 23 of the stopper 24. It
is also contemplated that when the knock pressure is released
so as to retreat the inner shaft 9 by the restoring force of
the valve spring 13 and the inner shaft 9 is rotated in the
reverse direction in such a state that the head portion 20 is
positioned in the rear of the through hole 21, the contour of
the head portion 20 overruns the contour of the through hole
21, so that even though the inner shaft 9 may advance by the
force of inertia due to its own weight, it cannot advance,

.
being hampered by the controlling wall 22. Accordlngly, if
such a state is assured when not in use, the unwilling
discharge of the liquid hair cosmetic due to the advancement of
the inner shaft 9 can be prevented.
Now, referring to the front end 2a of the above
described front shaft 2, the shape of its cross-section is
almost rectangular as shown in Fig. 7, and at both ends on the
flat side face 2b including one of the long sides of the
rectangle are protrusively provided outwardly hooked ribs 2c.
On the other hand, the comb body 8 which is mounted to the
front end 2a of the front shaft 2 comprises the teeth portion
8a consisting of a plurality of teeth arranged in one plane and
the engaging portion 8b forming an integral part of said teeth

portion 8a as shown in Figs. 2 .hrough 7, and further, said
engaging portion 8b comprises the basal part 8c in the form of
a curved plate and the side face plate portions 8d on both
sides thereof. While at the front end of said side face plate
portion 8d are provided inwardly hooking pieces 8e capable of
engagement with the hooked ribs 2c provided at the front end 2a
of the above described front shaft, on the outer surface of the
basal part 8c are provided ribs lying in the direction
substantially perpendicular to the axial direction. The comb
body 8 is mounted to the front shaft 2 in a freely attachable
and detachable manner in such a state that the engaging portion
8b thereof is parallel to the side face portion 2b of the front
end 2a of the front shaft 2.
Furthermore, the present invention is devised so as to
put on the outer peripheral portion of the front shaft 2 a cap
(not shown in the figure) covering the brush 3 and the comb
body 8, and in Fig. 1, 25 and 26 indicate a seal ring and an
ornamental ring, respectively.
