DETACHABLE BICYCLE HELMER VISOR

A detachable visor which can be attached to any bicycle helmet and removed when not required by the
helmet wearer. This Visor helps keep the harmful UV rays from most of the face and reduces the heat of
the sun on the face, and shades the eyes from the sun. It will also help keep the wind and rain from the
face and eyes of the cyclist. The novel thing about this Visor is that it can be removed or attached to the
bicycle helmet, quickly and easily at any time the wearer so desires.

Revendications

The embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive property or privilege is claimed are defined as
follows:
1. A detachable bicycle helmet visor which is designed to keep the sun off the face thus avoiding
harmful UV rays and also helps keep wind and rain off the face.
2. The visor as defined in claim 1
3. Method of attaching visor to bicycle helmet as defined in Claim 2, 3, and 4.

Description

SPECIFICATION
This invention relates to a detachable bicycle helmet visor. Bicycle helmets do not have a detachable
visor. There are a small number of the more expensive helmets being made with visors which are
permanently attached to the helmets. Most bicycle helmets do not have any type of visor.
This invention will enable the users of the bicycle helmets made ~vithout visors, to attach visors to their
helmets, quickly and easily Some bicycle helmet users are wearing baseball caps under their helmets
using the peak of the baseball cap to act as a sun visor. This method prevents ventilation by stopping the
flow of air through the air vents in the helmet making it hot for the wearer especially in warm weather.
This invention will overcome this problem, when the user attaches the visor to the outside of the bicycle
helmet with sticky back Velcro tape. This does not affect the structural integrity of the helmet or
obstruct the ventilation as the visor is attached to the helmet below the vent slats in the helmet. The
material used in the manufacture of the visor is shatterproof opaque plastic. Any ridged, non shattering
material can be used for the m~n~lf~ct~lre of the visor but for this form plastic has been used.

This invention illustrated comprises a wide curved section which is the Visor 1, which is designed to keep
the sun offthe face and eyes, thus avoiding harmful UV rays on the face, also keeps face cooler and helps
protect from wind and rain. It is designed to blend into the contours of the bicycle helmet. The surface
of the visor continues towards the bicycle helmet to form an upstand 2. This upstand 2 is used to attach
the visor to the bicycle helmet by means of sticky back Velcro tape 3. It may be any suitable adhesive
tape. In this form it is Velcro. The protective paper is removed from one section of the Velcro 3 and this
section is then adhered to the upstand 2. The protective paper is then removed from the other section of
Velcro 3, this section is then adhered to the bicycle helmet 4. The upstand 2 of the visor 1 is attached to t
he bicycle helmet 4. When the surface of the Velcro 3 attached to the upstand 2 comes in contact with
the surface of the Velcro 3 attached to the bicycle helmet 4 the visor is now firmly attached to the bicycle
helmet. The top of the upstand 2 is finished with a curve 5 towards the helmet. This curve 5 creates a
more aerodynamic surface and encourages rain to run offthe bicycle helmet over the curve.
