TITLE: A VENTILATION PROTECTIVE HELMET
This invention relates to an improved ventilation
protective helmet.
It has been found that the conventional protective
helmet is provided with a layer of polyurethane on its
inner surface, a layer of foamed rubber adhered on the
polyurethane, and a cloth lining adhered on the foamed
rubber, which prevent the heat evolved from the useris
head from being cooled by outside air. Hence, it will
make the user feel very uncomfortable and reluctant to
wear the protective helmet thereby causing lethal danger
to his life in case of accident.
Therefore, it is an object of the present invention
to provide a protective helmet which can obviate and
mitigate the above-mentioned drawbacks.
This invention relates to a ventilation protective
helmet.
It is the primary object of the present invention to
provide a ventilation protective helmet which can cause
air to move therethrough.

It is another object of the present invention to
provide a ventilation protective helmet which can
effectively cool the head of a user.
It *is still another object of the present invention
to provide a ventilation protective helmet which is simple
in construction.
It is still another object OI the present invention
to provide a ventilation protective helmet which is easy
to manufacture.
It is a further object of the present invention to
provide a ventilation protective helmet which is low in
cost.
Other objects of the invention will in part be
obvious and in part hereinafter pointed out.
The invention accordingly consists of features of
constructions and method, combination of elements,
arran~ement of parts and steps of the method which will be
exemplified in the constructions and method hereinafter
disclosed, the scope of the application of which will be
indicated in the claims following.

For the purpose to promoting an understanding of the

principles of the invention, reference will now be made to
the embodiment illustrated in the drawings. Specific
language will be used to describe same. It will,
nevertheless, be understood that no limitation of the
scope of the invention is thereby intended, such
alternations and further modifications in the illustrated
device, and such further applications of the principles of
the invention as illustrated herein being contemplated as
would normally occur to one skilled in the art to which
the invention relates.
With reference to the drawings and in particular to
FIGS. 1 through 3, the ventilation protective helmet
according to the present invention mainly comprises a body
portion 10, a hood 20, an intermediate layer 30, a foamed
rubber layer 40, and a cloth lining 50.
The body portion 10 is an one piece, injection-molded
member made of polychloroprene. The top of the body
portion 10 is formed with a hole.
The hood 20 is formed integrally with the top of the
body portion 10 and extends outwardly therefrom.

The hood 20 has a ventilating passage 21 formed with an
outlet 22 at the end and communicating with the hole of
the body portion 10. A reinforced web 23 is provided at
the intermediate portion of the bottom of the hood 20.
Both sides of the body portion 10 of the ventilation
protective helmet are provided with two elongated openings
71 for the passage of air and sound ~see FIGS. 1, 2, 6, 7
and 8) above which there is a shelter 70 for preventing
rain from flowing into the helmet.
The intermediate layer 30 (see FIG. 4~ is made of
foamed polystyrene which is fitted on the inner wall of the
ventilation protective helmet. The intermediate layer 30
has a hole 31 and a plurality of grooves 32 radially
extending from the hole 31. The top of the intermediate
layer 30 is formed with a shoulder 33 and a flange 34 for
preventing rain water from flowing into the hole 31.
The foamed rubber layer 40 is fixed onto the
intermediate layer 30 by heating and the cloth lining 50
is adhered on the foamed rubber layer 40. As the foamed
rubber layer 40 is adhered onto the intermediate layer 40

by heating, a plurality of raised portions 41 are formed
on the inner surface of the intermediate layer. Between
every two of the raised portions 41 there is a groove 42
which is just located under corresponding groove 32 of the
intermediate layer 30. Further, the groove 42 is formed
with a plurality of perforations 43 communicating with the
respective groove 32 of the intermediate layer 30.
Referring to FIGS. 2, 3 and 5, the inner cover
composed of the foamed rubber layer 40 and the lining
cloth 50 are divided into a first piece C and two second
pieces D wherein both ends of the first piece C are
mounted under the an inner end of the two second pieces D.
When a motorcycle rider has worn a ventilation
protective helmet according to the present invention ~see
FIG. 2), an air current A will flow into the ventilation
protective helmet through the elongated openings 71 at its
both sides and a ventilation hole 44 at its lower edge.
Then the air current A will flow into the grooves 42
through the perforations 43 thereby cooling the head of
the user. Thereafter, the air current A will pass through

the hole 31 of the intermediate layer 30 via the inner and
outer grooves 42 and 32. Finally, the air current will
flow out of the ventilation protective helmet through the
outlet 22 of the passage 21.
The invention is naturally not limited in any sense
to the particular features specified in the forgoing or to
the details of the particular embodiment which has been
chosen in order to illustrate the invention.
Consideration can be given to all kinds of variants of the
particular embodiment which has been described by way of
example and of its constituent elements without thereby
departing from the scope of the invention. This invention
accordingly includes all the means constituting technical
equivalents of the means described as well as their
combinations.
