There is disclosed herein a simplicity multi-functional binder. This
binder has three rings with swing sawtooth arch legs. It is easy to operate
and can hold a lot of paper with or without punched holes. The key
component is the swing sawtooth arch legs. By pushing the paper into the
binder, the swing legs lock the paper. When pulling the paper out, it releases
the paper automatically. This idea can be applied to other stationary or
devices for office or personal use.

Revendications

4. The embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive property
or privilege is claimed are defined as follows:

1) Clamping material with no holes:
A. Fig. 5 shows a device which consists of several different size
triangles(metal wires). The swing legs clamp the material tightly when
pulling the material in the opposite direction of insertion. It is very easy to
load and unload the material.

B. As shown in Fig. 6, a device made of pieces of metals with
sawtooth at the bottom. It can be used for holding tickets.
2). Clamping material with punched holes:

A single ring with a swing leg is designed to clamp material with
punched holes as shown in Fig.7 and Fig.8.





5. Potential application:
The swing leg locking technique can be widely used to create other
products such as:
1). bottle caps. As shown in Fig. 9, 10, 11, and 12, the cap is
tightened by pressing once and opened when pressing again.
2). lamp covers.
3). pipe joins.
4). locks.
5). cloth hangers.

Spe~iff~tion

1. This invention applies the mechanical principle to design a multi-
functional binder. The swing legs clamp the pages by rubbing against the
paper. It is easy to use and can elimin~te the need to punch holes on paper.

2. There are two types of binders on the market (see reference). One
is the ring binder, which holds punched hole paper and its operation is
cumbersome. The other type holds no-hole paper, but it can only hold small
amount of paper. It is, therefore necessary to design a binder with flexibility
~nd simplicity. The binder described here can hold different types of paper
(with or without holes). It is very easy to load or release articles from the
binder.

3. Illustration:
1). Holding no-hole paper:
Fig.1 shows the structure of the special ring with a swing leg and
indicates the directions for inserting, tightening and releasing paper from the
binder. Because of the weight of the swing leg and the arch shape of the
sawtooth, the sawtooth will lock the paper in the proper position when
inserting paper as shown in Fig.1. The resistanGe from rubbing against the
paper will prevent the paper pulling out from the opposite direction. In fact,

this action will tighten up the paper even more. The binder can hold articles
from single page to multiple pages. Fig.2 depicts the up limit. When taking
the paper out, slightly pushing the paper in the insert direction the lock will
be released. Then you can pull the paper out of the binder in the directions
as shown in Fig. 1. When you close the cover, the hook joining the swing leg
and the ring will be locked (see Fig.3~. This adds double security to prevent
paper from sliding out of the binder.
2). Holding paper with punched holes:
As shown in Fig.4, the binder holds the paper in the same way as
three ring binders except that it easier to operate.
