Wireless hockey puck training device
Background of the invention
Field of the invention
This invention relates to a wireless hockey puck device, more particularly,
the invention relates
to a wireless training device for hockey players to quickly and accurately
determine the speed of
their shooting and passing abilities.
State of the art
This invention can be of benefit to any hockey player, in any age group and
skill level who
wishes to know and increase the speed and power of their shooting and passing
abilities.
Ice Hockey is played by many children and adults all over the world, most
start learning how to
shoot as young as three years of age and continue to play and practice even
into their senior
years.
Most competitive hockey teams practice every day and a good portion of on ice
training pertains
to shooting and passing, also many hockey players practice at home on their
own and currently
are limited to a sports radar gun for knowledge of their speed, which is
expensive and requires
another person or stationary device to use.
On their own hockey player can practice there shooting and passing for hours a
day without any
knowledge of speed or improvement, and on the ice players practice passing
with one another
without any knowledge of the speed, and lack the ability to accurately measure
and improve his
or her performance while performing such drills.
In short there is currently no way for an individual to practice his shooting
abilities with the
knowledge of the speed on his or her own.
Based on the perceived need for a training device that allows you to know the
speed of each shot
or pass without the need of another person, and allows the ability to improve
one's shooting
skills on their own or in a team environment, the device disclosed herein was
developed by the
applicant.
The invention of this wireless hockey puck is affordable and allows players to
practice their
shooting and passing abilities with quick and accurate way of knowing the
speed, both on their
own and in a team environment.

Summary of the invention
It is therefor an aspect of the invention to provide quick and accurate
results of speed from the
wireless hockey puck to the designated application that can be downloaded on
any smartphone,
or tablet. allowing any player in any group or skill level, to accurately know
their shot or passing
strength and have the ability to improve their shooting and passing ability's
more accurately.
It is another aspect of the invention to be official weight and size, to
provide accurate training
results.
It is another aspect of this invention to provide a tool for coaches and
instructors to work on
players shooting and passing strength without the need of an expensive radar
gun, or rental of ice
surface.
It is another aspect of this invention to have a designated access code, with
the ability to connect
to one or multiple sources.
It is another aspect of this invention to provide the ability for players to
practice on their own
with quick and accurate knowledge of their shooting speed.
It is another aspect of this invention to provide the ability to try different
sticks and compare
them in real life without purchasing them.
It is another aspect of the invention to provide a record of total shots with
the slowest, average
and fastest shot result.
It is another aspect of this invention to have the ability to connect multiple
wireless pucks to one
source.
It is another aspect of the invention to provide the use of pay-to-play like
for example, batting
cages, video games and driving ranges.
A wireless hockey puck training device according to the invention will include
(1) a wireless
hockey puck with the ability to connect to any smart phone or tablet. (2) a
link to download the
corresponding smartphone or tablet application, (3) a passcode to link the
wireless hockey puck
training device to the designated smartphone or tablet.
According to a preferred aspect of the present invention, the device (i)
includes a link to
download the corresponding application, permitting a user the ability to
connect the device to
any smartphone or tablet. (ii) the processor means is a micro speed sensor
that sends data from
the wireless hockey puck training device, to the designated smartphone or
tablet and provides a
quick and accurate result of each shot or pass.

The designated smartphone or tablet application is designed to provide a
training tool, to
improve players shooting and passing ability's both on their own and in a team
environment.
In addition, the designated application will provide a coaching aid for
players without the need of
an expensive radar gun, and have the ability to monitor multiple players
shooting and passing
strength from anywhere on or off the ice. The puck will be of official size
and weight and will
have the ability to connect to one or multiple smartphone or tablet devices,
by entering the
designated access code into the corresponding smartphone application, each
puck will have a
unique access code that will be provided with each wireless hockey puck, along
with a link to
download the corresponding smartphone or tablet application.
These features of the presented invention will become apparent after a review
of the following
drawings and a detailed description and embodiments.
Brief description of the Drawings
Preferred embodiments o the presented invention will now be described, by way
of example only
with reference to the attached Figures, wherein:
Figure 1: an overview of the wireless hockey puck.
Figure 2: is a depiction of the wireless hockey puck, connected to a
smartphone or tablet.
The present invention provides a tool for Hockey players of any age or skill
level, to practice
their shooting and passing abilities, both on their own or in a team
environment with quick and
accurate results of each shot or pass. The presented invention is also a tool
for coaches,
instructors and scouts to have the ability to accurately track one, or
multiple players without the
need of an expensive radar gun or ice surface rental.
Figure 1 shows a wireless hockey puck training device (01). The device (01) is
made to size and
weight of an official hockey puck, the processor means is a micro speed sensor
(02), a sensor
will be molded into ever puck with the ability to connect to one, or multiple
smartphone or tablet
devices wirelessly.
Figure 2 shows a wireless hockey puck training device (01), connected to a
designated
smartphone or tablet (03). After downloading the designated application, the
smartphone or
tablet (03) will then be able to connect to one, or multiple wireless hockey
puck training devices
(01).

Once the wireless hockey puck training device (01) is connected to the
corresponding
smartphone or tablet (03), the puck will then accurately transmit the speed of
each shot or pass
back to the corresponding smartphone or tablet (03). the smartphone or tablet
(03) will then keep
a record of each shot and pass, allowing the player to keep track of his
hardest, weakest or
Average shooting and passing strengths. As well as allowing coaches, trainers
or scouts to keep a
record of each individual player.
The wireless hockey puck training device will be operated by an internal
battery source, that will
be rechargeable either by, but not limitated to a conventional plug in wall
charger or other
charging sources. the wireless hockey puck training device (01) may be turned
on using an on or
off switch. The wireless hockey puck training device (01) will then wirelessly
connect to the
corresponding smartphone or tablet, after downloading and opening the
designated application a
mode selection screen will appear.
It is preferred in this invention to ensure that it is durable enough to
withstand multiple shots, by
even the hardest of shooters. It is also preferred in this invention to ensure
the battery of the
wireless hockey puck training device will be adequate enough to last a regular
practice (about an
hour to an hour and a half).
